Love the paths he takes, I like to judge a back based on what he can accomplish when blocks aren't clean, when holes aren't immediately apparent. A ton of what this young man produces comes dirty, which is great, especially considering his experience level. Low center of gravity, built like a fire hydrant, almost demands 2-3 defenders to gang tackle and rally to the football. Surprised not by his vision and second-level exploiting, more surprised by his second gear. Now he's a hair shy of turning huge splash plays into 50-60 yard touchdowns, but I trust that continued development will have this kid an accolade-collecting league leader in 1-2 years time. Can run out of I looks, can run power from gun looks. Some counter action and kick return reps sprinkled in. We likely haven't seen the best of this kid, he's only going to get more and more comfortable handling the rock at this level. Johnson's first three reps on tape have him scoring from three very different alignments. Johnson makes what should be an interception or incomplete pass a 60+ yard touchdown, what should be a mundane kick return into an 80+ yard score, a jet-sweep carry into a 50-yd score. Great accelerator and open field vision. Johnson's ability to swing the game in MLKs favor in a flash proves he should rank beside other elite 2027 playmakers. Has some pass-pro reps sprinkled into his mid-season, appreciate the attempt to prove his toughness. Can expect him to catch a screen a game. Varsity wrestler at Pittsburgh Central Catholic. </li> </ul>   <ul class="wp-block-list"> <li>Carries more of a linebacker/running back frame, compact with a thick lower half and low center of gravity, lines up as PCC's primary edge rusher opposite Blatt in a four-man front. He's not going to blow you away with twitch or length, but his motor, play strength, and short-area quickness make him a handful for opposing tackles.<br><br>What stands out most is his consistency and production against top-tier competition, specifically in games versus LaSalle and Pine-Richland. He's a disruptive presence who impacts the game beyond the stat sheet, generating frequent QB pressures, batting passes at the line, and forcing hurried throws. Displays excellent hip explosion off the snap, making it difficult for blockers to displace or drive him off his spot.<br><br>The way he wins with leverage, finishes tackles with one arm, and manipulates angles against bigger linemen all point toward a player who's strong as an ox in the weight room. Most effective working from the C-gap where he has room to use his hands and leverage. Plays disciplined off the edge and shows flashes that remind me of Plymouth Whitemarsh's [player_tooltip player_id='1282818' first='Amir' last='Butler'] from last cycle, raw but trending upward with noticeable upside.<br><br>Love his pursuit and motor, consistently chases plays down even when the initial angle isn't favorable. Doesn't always disengage cleanly off the edge but can slip through gaps, spin off poor hand placement, and hold his ground against the run thanks to solid gap integrity. Lower-body strength stands out, digs in, absorbs flow, and maintains balance with clear vision on the ball carrier.<br><br>There are moments on tape that grab your attention, key QB hurries, TFLs, and flashes of violent hand use that make him hard to ignore as an evaluator. Logged an impressive swim move earlier in the season that hints at what he could become with technical refinement. Intriguing prospect overall. He's beginning to trend in the right direction and has started to draw more attention after recent Twitter/X posts. Nearly Wood's leading rusher despite not playing early into the season. Five touchdowns in four games if the tape shows all of his production.
