Five weeks into the season we take a look at the NW's top 25 teams and how they rank. Oregon continues to dominate Washington opponents in head-to-head matchups, but Washington consistently has more teams in the top 25 with a 16-9 advantage. Check it..

Teams #11-25 ranked here.. https://prepredzone.com/2025/10/updated-the-nws-top-25-teams-all-classes-11-25/

1.Lake Oswego OR (5-0)

It's too early to call this the best Lakers team ever but it could be. The line is legit on both sides of the ball and it's rare you have a high level D1 trio running the show offensively: RB [player_tooltip player_id='402416' first='Lamarcus' last='Bell'] (Utah), TE/LB [player_tooltip player_id='457009' first='Sam' last='Vyhlidal'] (Washington), and QB [player_tooltip player_id='402409' first='Hudson' last='Kurland'] (Washington St). They were dominant against a good Tualatin team last week 49-24. Mark your calendar for October 17th when they play the game of the year at home against West Linn.

2.West Linn OR (5-0)

Until somebody beats the reigning state champs, they have a right to call themselves #1. What's crazy about this Lions group is how young they are. Thus far they have left no doubt each and every week, crushing everyone. The only close game came at 4A Champ Sumner a few weeks ago when they won 31-24. It's a clear cut 1-2 in Oregon.

3.Puyallup WA (5-0)

The Vikings make the jump all the way from #9 to #3 after absolutely destroying reigning 4A Champ Sumner 58-22 this past weekend. Sophomore RB [player_tooltip player_id='985352' first='Briytan' last='Bailey'], 6-5 WR [player_tooltip player_id='1188105' first='J'Isaiah' last='Mitchell'], D1 athlete [player_tooltip player_id='1165415' first='Jayden' last='Woodland'], and breakout player of the year Lawson Looker have been phenomenal. Defensively they are loaded with 2028 top recruit [player_tooltip player_id='984781' first='Markel' last='Newell'], POY candidate Michale Pulalasi at LB, and elite 3* 2026 CB [player_tooltip player_id='726165' first='Jasiah' last='Denmark'].

4.Lake Stevens WA (5-0)

Always a traditional power, Lake Stevens had key wins against Sumner 31-28 and Bellevue 21-14 to start the year. They had another impressive 49-14 win over Glacier Peak on Friday, but things changed a little bit with Puyallup's blowout win.

5.Graham Kapowsin WA (5-0)

GK got a big win over reigning 3A champ O'Dea 40-38 to start the year. The young nucleus of [player_tooltip player_id='984855' first='AJ' last='Tuivaiave'] and receivers [player_tooltip player_id='937738' first='Kase' last='Betz'] and [player_tooltip player_id='985348' first='Jayce' last='Halasz'], along with numerous other ranked underclassmen, give the Eagles a future like no other program in Washington. I wouldn't sleep on 4-1 Bethel who they play this week.

6.O'Dea WA (4-1)

When looking at the roster it's surprising that teams are even able to stay close. The D line in particular projects as one of the best in the country led by 4 D1 athletes; [player_tooltip player_id='402788' first='David' last='Schwerzel'] (UCLA), [player_tooltip player_id='284217' first='FA' last='Siale'] (Michigan St), [player_tooltip player_id='1354431' first='Jeremiah' last='Nonu'] (Nevada), and 4* standout [player_tooltip player_id='1599603' first='Tevita' last='Nonu']. There is no reason for the reigning 3A champs not to repeat, although Eastside Catholic came close again a few weeks ago losing 24-20.

7.Sumner WA (2-3)

This is a tough one to gauge after the 58-22 loss to Puyallup. The Spartans had two close and respectable losses to NW powers West Linn and Lake Stevens which could be justified. It will be interesting to see how they come back from this past weekend as they will play a sneaky good Curtis team in a couple weeks which will be telling.

8.Gonzaga Prep WA (5-0)

The Bullpups have been my sleeper to win the 4A title from the beginning of the year although their strength of schedule doesn't help justify that. They have dudes everywhere including POY favorite [player_tooltip player_id='1165376' first='Jonah' last='Keller'] and one of the best secondaries in the NW led by [player_tooltip player_id='1589207' first='Jacobe' last='McClelland'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1589218' first='Jack' last='Pierce'].

9.Tumwater WA (4-1)

I don't see anyone being able to hang with Tumwater at the 2A level. Recent blowout wins against 4A Eastlake and Union speak to that. Their only loss came to what could be the best team in the state in Puyallup 25-19 to start the year.

10.Central Catholic OR (4-1)

CC is always one of the region's best. Impressive wins against Central Catholic of California, Lakeridge, and Jesuit speak to a tough non-league schedule. Their 21-0 shutout loss to Lake Oswego a few weeks back highlights the separation between them and the top two ranked teams in the state. Also, the Mt Hood is tough this year with Nelson posing a real threat and Sandy having their best team maybe ever. Those will be the last two games of the regular season.
