We are getting down to the nitty-gritty of the regular season now.

Only two more games remain on the schedule before the playoffs begin in Kansas.

Here is a look at five significant games in Northeast Kansas.

Shawnee Mission East (5-1) @ Olathe West (5-1) – A pair of one-loss metro area teams will face off in Week Seven. The Owls are coming off a statement win against Mill Valley. West defeated the Jaguars 52-36 and is riding a three-game win streak. The Lancers defeated rival Shawnee Mission North 49-14 last week. The winner of this game will take a stranglehold on a top-four seed in Class 6A.

Sam Krzyowski, WR, 6'2”, 180, Olathe West, ‘26

Krzyowksi plays a significant role in the Owls' offensive game plan. He has made 36 receptions through six games, gaining 705 yards and scoring 10 touchdowns. He also has six carries for 117 yards and two end zone dances. The Owls as a team are posting large numbers, rushing for 1,193 yards and gaining 1,339 yards through the air.

Seaman (3-3) @ Basehor Linwood (6-0) – The Vikings are coming off a 20-3 loss to Shawnee Heights. The Bobcats remain undefeated after knocking off rival Tonganoxie 38-10 last week. Basehor is playing for a No. 1 seed in Class 5A, for a league title, and an undefeated regular season as goals.

Gavin Mitchell, RB/DL, 5'10”, 200, Basehor Linwood, ‘28

Mitchell is an exciting prospect I scouted early this season. His workload has increased over the season. He has carried the ball 48 times for 315 yards and five touchdowns. He has also been wreaking havoc in the opposition's backfield this season. Eleven of his 35 total tackles have resulted in lost yardage. He has also recorded one quarterback sack.

KC Washington (6-0) @ KC- Schlagle (3-3) – Two Kansas City teams will meet in Week Seven, playing for more than just bragging rights. The Wildcats are off to an undefeated start and are scoring points than many NFL teams. They knocked off Wyandotte last week, 70-0, and are outscoring opponents 386 to 132. Schlagle has won back-to-back games after forfeiting a contest in Week Four.

[player_tooltip player_id='1664431' first='Savion' last='Stone'], QB, 5'11”, 180, KC-Washington, ‘26

Stone is the leader of the Wildcats' offense. He is a dual-threat quarterback who has thrown for 1,604 yards and 22 touchdowns. He has also rushed for 875 yards and 15 more scores. To date, over the past three seasons, he has recorded 2,740 rushing yards, 2,989 yards passing, and 71 total touchdowns.

Concordia (3-3) @ Rock Creek (6-0) – The Mustangs remain undefeated through six games after a 56-14 beatdown on Marysville. Rock Creek is outscoring opponents 269 to 48 this season. They look poised to win Class 3A's District 5 title. Standing in the Mustangs' way this week are the 3-3 Panthers. Concordia will look to rebound from a 47-26 loss to Clay Center. The Panthers hope to corral the Mustangs in Week Seven.

[player_tooltip player_id='1585755' first='Gavin' last='Rosa'], QB, 6'3”, 185, Rock Creek, ‘26

Rosa has shared time at the quarterback position for the Mustangs. He has thrown 489 yards and seven touchdowns. Sophomore Tate Smith (5'10”, 150) has also taken snaps for Rock Creek and has thrown 602 yards and seven touchdowns.

Atchison County (3-3) @ Jefferson West (5-1) – The Class 3A Tigers look to add another win to their belts. The Tigers have won three games in a row, including a 47-14 win over rival Perry-Lecompton last week. Atchison County hopes to improve its record after suffering a defeat to Royal Valley 35-7 a week ago.

Cody Falk, QB, 5'10”, 150, Jefferson West, ‘27

Falk is posting solid numbers during his junior season. He has thrown for 580 yards and three touchdowns. He has also rushed for 82 yards. The Tigers have a balanced offense with numerous weapons. Four different Tigers have rushed for more than 100 yards, and have had four different rushers find the end zone.
