CEDAR RAPIDS — One of the final remaining undefeated teams in Class 4A, Cedar Rapids Xavier defended their home field on Friday night, defeating Waverly-Shell Rock in dominant fashion, winning by a final score of 42-21 at home.

Here, we'll breakdown five of the most impactful players from Friday evening for the Go-Hawks.

Ole' reliable for quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='1631367' first='Caleb' last='Schipper'] and the WSR offense, [player_tooltip player_id='1619985' first='Brady' last='Bodensteiner'] did anything and everything he could to keep the Go-Hawks in the game on Friday evening.

His stat line may not show as much with just four receptions for 45 yards and a touchdown to go along with 2.5 tackles, but the senior wide receiver was all over the field on Friday. If he wasn't making plays, he was doing as much as he could to get to the ball. With Schipper under almost constant pressure, Bodensteiner was his quarterback's "screw it, he's down there somewhere" receiver.

The senior caught the only score of the first half, going up and getting a swing pass way above his head in the red zone and making the DB miss to score. Earlier in the game, when the Go-Hawks were struggling to move the ball and get first downs, he laid out for a pass that ricocheted off one of his teammate's hands and snagged it out of the air for one of WSR's few first downs of the first quarter.

The go-to running back for the Go-Hawk offense, [player_tooltip player_id='1937647' first='Mekyver' last='Hagarty'] took a bit of a beating on Friday, but kept taking the rock and kept plugging away for WSR. Along with Schipper being under duress for a good chunk of the game, WSR struggled to get the ground game going, as Xavier's defensive line consistently found its way into the backfield.

On 17 carries for 61 yards, Hagarty kept taking the rock and doing what he could, eventually rewarded with a touchdown in the second half. So far this season, Hagarty has been responsible for a large portion of WSR's offensive success, scoring five times on the ground.

The big left tackle on the offensive front for WSR, [player_tooltip player_id='1631381' first='Mason' last='Hinrichs'] takes up a ton of space at 6-foot-6 and 320 pounds. Hinrichs uses his body effectively to protect Schipper's backside, and he does a good job of plowing forward in the run game. He'll be a good project for a Division II program, as he holds offers from Southwest Minnesota State, Upper Iowa, Sioux Falls and others. Division I Western Illinois has also shown interest, and if he speeds up his footwork and cleans up his technique, Hinrichs could be a home run of an investment for a college program in the Midwest.

As referenced a few times now, Schipper faced quite the pass-rush on Friday night. One of a variety of reasons Xavier is a top team in 4A, the perennial powerhouse has a crew of violent defensive linemen that like to get after the quarterback. Despite being under constant attack, Schipper never let his head hang and kept his eyes down field, going after his main targets in Bodensteiner and [player_tooltip player_id='1596610' first='Jayden' last='Stephens'] when he could get a pass away.

Schipper, aware of the pressure he was facing, would often roll out of the pocket to avoid the pass-rush, but continued to look for open receivers. Not necessarily a dual-threat gunslinger, Schipper showed mobility to avoid defensive linemen as much as he could. He also trusted his receivers to go get it, and when he was able to get a pass off, he put up some decent numbers. He finished the night 12-of-19 for 157 yards and a touchdown.

Back for the first time this season after missing the first five games due to injury, [player_tooltip player_id='1596610' first='Jayden' last='Stephens'] returned to the field on Friday night.

One can tell the first time he or she sees Stephens catch a pass and run that he's different athletically. A bouncy runner, the sophomore is explosive in the open field and possesses a burst that earned him offers from Iowa and Iowa State this summer on the camp circuit.

Though I didn't get to see much of him on Friday, Stephens showed off playmaking ability as a ball-carrier on jet-sweeps, sticky hands, the capability to catch a swing or a screen pass and make a big play and that athleticism that only few prospects possess. He may only have offers from the in-state programs now, but, assuming he gets back out on the camp circuit again this summer, that will likely change.
