TIFFIN, Iowa - Newton took a haymaker from upset-minded Clear Creek Amana here Friday night before bouncing back up for another key win in Class 4A. The Cardinals overcame a long-touchdown pass on the Clippers' opening possession in a 31-19 victory.

Klein is one of those guys that's seemingly involved in almost all of the plays in a given game. That's certainly the case when he lines up at quarterback, where his dual-threat ability puts a serious strain on the opposing defense. Klein does well in play-faking and displays a good arm on deep balls or quick throws. He looks like a running back rushing the ball with quick bursts, cutting ability and speed in the open field. Defensively, he's a physical performer with great instincts in supporting the run. The traits that make him a good runner also aid him in sticking with receivers in coverage. I'm not sure where Klein will end up on the next level, but him having an impact seems likely.

Hansen enjoyed a strong summer impressing college coaches on the camp circuit. Iowa State offered him a scholarship in June. I got a chance to scout him in person later in the 2025 season and witness the potential that's earning him attention from Power 4 schools. Newton employs him as a running back, where his speed and quick-twitch athleticism makes him a threat to house any carry. As a taller back, Hansen does a nice job keeping his pads low in creating and maintaining leverage. His long strides chew up a lot of real estate and keen vision allows for positive gains between the tackles. Running back could be Hansen's future at the next level, but his skill set would work at other positions, too.

Milburn racks up tackles like they're going out of style. I found out how why when watching him operate against Clear Creek Amana on Oct. 10, 2025. Milburn is a big, physical middle linebacker in the classic definition of the position. He controls the action with his presence and a sixth sense for getting to the football. Milburn positions himself well during pre-snap reads, finds the gaps and shoots through them to the tackle. Milburn is a good athlete that runs well with long arms that also aid him in coverage. He has the size and burst to be effective lining up off the edge. Milburn should continue to see his stock rise and could take a big jump with strong performances at summer camps.

Coley suffered an injury in the first half of the game I scouted on Oct. 10, 2025. Before he exited, he showed a broad base of skills that make him an intriguing prospect. As a running back, Coley brings power to position. His strength makes him a tough guy to tackle initially and then again once he builds up some steam. Coley also stresses defenses as a receiver with sharp route running and reliable hands. A willing and able blocker, Coley is effective even when the ball isn't in his hands. He also returns kicks for the Cardinals, which speaks to his speed and ability make opponents miss.

Maki's toughness helps him play a lot bigger and more effectively than his physical stature might otherwise indicate. Watching him operate during an Oct. 10, 2025 game at Clear Creek Amana, Maki looked like a guy more prepared and playing at a faster tempo than most of the others on the field. Maki does well in diagnosing what he sees before the ball is snapped and is fast to it once the play is underway. He's a sound tackler and sticks his nose in when supporting the run. Maki shows fluid hip movements in coverage and has a good feel for using his hands to his advantage. There are plenty of colleges out there that would benefit from his presence on defense and special teams.

I didn't know much about Lampe heading into an in-person scout of Newton at Clear Creek Amana on Oct. 10, 2025. He caught my attention early on in the game and held it throughout. Lampe appeared prepared for what the Clippers were doing, analyzing what he was seeing pre-snap and communicating his findings to teammates. He runs and flows well to the football, staying technically sound and committed to his assignments. Lampe benefits from athleticism and long arms in coverage with a frame that can comfortably fill out more and add strength without the loss of what makes him effective already.
