TAYLORS | It's hard to say which version of [player_tooltip player_id='1734598' first='Peyton' last='Schrader'] had the most impact for Eastside in the Eagles' 42-0 win over Wade Hampton on Friday.

It could've been the big-hitting safety who was flying all over the field on defense, making key tackles for loss and generally blowing up what the Generals wanted to do.

It was probably the hard-nosed runner who accounted for three touchdowns on the ground and rushed for 97 yards on 10 carries, bowling over defenders on his way to the end zone.

It's entirely possible that it was the big-armed QB, who finished 12-for-14, throwing for 154 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

There's no question, though, that whatever Schrader (pictured) was doing, he was setting the tone.

"He's not a thermometer, he's a thermostat," Eastside coach Andre Woolcock said of his quarterback. "He sets the tone and the temperature for our program day in and day out. He demands everything."

Behind Schrader, the Eagles were red hot. And playing all over the field is something he's wanted to do for a long time.

"I just like being on the field," he said. "I don't like taking plays off. I train to do that. I want to play 180 snaps a game. It's something I've been begging coaches to let me do, and it hasn't happened until my senior year. I'm just trying to take advantage of it."

The Eagles were in firm control from the very first snap. Massive Eastside defensive lineman [player_tooltip player_id='379094' first='Lyndez' last='Smith'] broke through the line on the first play of the game, batted down a pass, and nearly picked it off with 25 yards of green grass in front of him. The takeaway wasn't to be, but it would only have to wait one play, when [player_tooltip player_id='1025770' first='Cayden' last='Workman'] recovered a fumble and set up the first TD of the night for Eastside by returning it to the Wade Hampton 8-yard line.

That was just the beginning for the Eastside defense, as they completely dominated the first half. They forced four total turnovers in the early going, as Workman picked off a pass to go with his fumble recovery, and [player_tooltip player_id='1592576' first='Lucas' last='Tankersley'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1819688' first='Ean' last='Johanning'] each added interceptions of their own. Schrader had a pair of big tackles for loss, [player_tooltip player_id='1822390' first='Frank' last='Stathakis'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1719680' first='Messiah' last='Pearson'] both turned in big stops, and [player_tooltip player_id='1822215' first='MJ' last='Posey'] was all over the field for the Eagles.

Meanwhile, the Eagles' offense was rolling as well. Tankersley rushed for a first-half touchdown while all three of Schrader's scores on the ground came in the first half. He completed passes to five different receivers in the opening half, with an 18-yard scoring strike to Workman. [player_tooltip player_id='1822219' first='Christian' last='McDowell'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1822213' first='Brody' last='Fowler'] both had key catches, while [player_tooltip player_id='1819491' first='Lawson' last='Griffith'] had three catches for 51 yards in the first half.

Workman's nine-yard catch from Schrader capped the Eagles' first drive of the second half, and a two-point conversion not only brought the mercy rule into play, it pretty much summed up the whole game. On a designed QB run, Schrader picked his lane, followed his blocks, and obliterated a defender at the goal line to provide Eastside's final points of the night.

"I see a guy in front of me, I'm going to try to lay him out," Schrader said with a grin. "I'm a wrestler, and I think it comes from that. I like to be physical, and I like contact."

For Wade Hampton, freshman QB [player_tooltip player_id='1817224' first='Parker' last='McCrory'] was harassed all night, but hung in and made some good plays for the Generals. [player_tooltip player_id='1817509' first='Coleman' last='Batson'] picked up some tough yards on the ground, and JJ Eichelberger led Wade Hampton in receiving.

Wade Hampton also moved the ball well at the end of the first half with a bit of a different look, using a read-option package with Teagan Hamrick at QB and [player_tooltip player_id='1172362' first='Angel' last='Gomez'] in the backfield.

Defensively, Brayden Oliver and Ayden Jacobs both had good games for the Generals, and [player_tooltip player_id='1822396' first='Hayden' last='Cauley'] erased a scoring threat with a fumble recovery.
