Several options presented itself for our statewide player of the week but Haywood took honor after his performance versus a strong Rhea Co. football team. The Hurricanes moved to 6-0 on the season after their 56-33 victory over the Golden Eagles and Haywood was a major factor in those efforts. The future ETSU prospect exploded on offense for 298 total yards and five touchdowns with four of them coming on the ground. Haywood has been stellar all season long, producing big game after big game which has helped his team to an undefeated start while also placing himself in contention for Mr. Football.

Rodgers put together his best performance of the year within the biggest game of the season thus far as he led his Panthers team to a 42-35 win over Knox. Central. This East Tennessee multi-talented athlete was a one man wrecking crew against the Bobcats where he generated 467 total offensive yards and six touchdowns within a big region win. Rodgers has steadily gotten better as the year has gone on and might be hitting his stride as we creep into the final stretch of the 2025 season.

The Cougars hit the road last week looking to pick up a region win and they did, defeating Providence Academy, 28-21 with Bowling being a major force on defense. This senior edge rusher could not be blocked nor kept out of the backfield as Bowling caused damage rushing the quarterback while also stuffing the run. This 6'3 backer has been playing at another level so far this Fall, producing each week and boosting his recruiting stock. Bowling is having the kind of productive year that might put him in the conversation for Mr. Football by the end of the season, which is tough to accomplish as a defensive player.

Kirkwood Cobras (Notable Players: [player_tooltip player_id='944767' first='Kamari' last='Blair'])

- The Cobras earned a big win in “Week Six” as they defeated region foe Dickson Co., 49-14. It was an impressive win that showcased the Kirkwood offense and their line dominating things up front. Spearheaded by the state's top ranked O-lineman in [player_tooltip player_id='944767' first='Kamari' last='Blair'], the Cobras front five did a good job of opening holes in the run game for [player_tooltip player_id='1432194' first='Josiah' last='Claybrooks'] but also keeping [player_tooltip player_id='1200717' first='Miles' last='Reding'] clean and allowing him to throw for 279 yards and four touchdowns while also rushing for 74 yards. The O-line set the tone early and maintained their stellar play till the very end in the Cobras biggest win of the season.

QB: [player_tooltip player_id='1603459' first='Cole' last='Brown'] - McKenzie ‘27 (Stats: 16-20 passing for 278 yds & 4 TD's (13 carr. for 107 yds & 2 TD's)

- Brown has stepped into the lead role at quarterback for his Rebels team and been able to steady the ship. Last week was his best performance of the year where he produced 385 yards of total offense and six touchdowns in the team's 41-7 win over Chester County. This is an athletic playmaker that is building a case for him to be looked at in college for quarterback.

- The Cavaliers pulled off a big region win last week over Jackson North-Side with Woods stepping forward and helping lead his team to victory. A power runner with deceptive open field speed, Woods used his physicality and vision to nearly run for 200 yards while scoring three touchdowns, helping move his Cavs team to a current 5-1 record.

- All this guy has done throughout his high school career is produce at a high level and Maddox did so yet again in last week's win over Campbell County. The Dragons wideout was nearly unstoppable, generating over 200 yards receiving with three touchdowns while also dominating on special teams as well as producing an interception on defense.

ATH: Ka'Devon Gross - Lake Co. (Stats: 17 carr. for 231 yds & 5 TD's (11 tcks, 2 TFL, 1 PD & 1 sack on Def.)

- The Falcons traveled into Kentucky last week and came out with a 47-34 victory over Fulton Co. with Gross being the top player on the field from both sides of the ball. This two-way prospect was outstanding on the gridiron where he produced over 230 yards rushing with five touchdowns while also being a terror on defense that generated 11 tackles, two of them for loss and one sack on the night.

DL/Edge: [player_tooltip player_id='1591156' first='Zeke' last='Walkup'] - Cannon Co. ‘27 (Stats: 15 tcks, 4 TFL & 1 sack)

- Even though his Lions team fell last week to Clay County, Walkup couldn't be stopped as he played in the Bulldogs backfield all night long. This junior edge rusher has been held in-check somewhat during the 2025 season but broke out with his best game yet where he produced a staggering 15 tackles with four of them for loss and one sack.

LB: [player_tooltip player_id='1922843' first='Dawson' last='Smith'] - Clarksville (Stats: 10 tcks, 3 TFL, 1 FR & 1.5 sacks)

- The Wildcats defense pulled off a shutdown in last week's 34-0 win over West Creek and Smith was a key player in those efforts. His work against the run was stellar but he also provided the occasional pass rush as well. This was also his best individual performance of the season as Smith produced 10 total tackles, three of them for loss as well as 1.5 sacks against the Coyotes.

DB: Gage Proctor - Fairview ‘27 (Stats: 16 tcks, 1 TFL, 1 PD & 2 Int's w/ 1 pick six)

- Proctor put forth a sensational performance for his Yellow Jackets in last week's one point loss to Sycamore but it wasn't for the lack of effort from this junior defensive back. He was all over the field last Friday night where he did excellent work against and tackling in space as well as being a ball hawk in the secondary, picking two passes and taking one back to the end zone.
