Despite the outcome, QB [player_tooltip player_id='795746' first='Ethan' last='Beachy'] managed to have a great game in which he made plays through the air and on the ground. Beachy had well over 300 yards of offense as he recorded 158 passing yards, 169 rushing yards, a passing touchdown, and a rushing touchdown. I was really impressed with how Ethan looked as a runner. He is very tough to bring down on initial contact and is willing to stick his arm out to push away would-be tacklers. He hits his running lanes hard and has the vision to find opening creases in the defense. The Griffins' defense made sure to take away explosive plays over top, but Ethan still did a great job taking what was given to him underneath, delivering some nice passes into tight windows. On top of being a solid runner, Beachy also knows how to use his legs and shiftiness to evade pass rushers as he keeps his eyes downfield looking for an open target. Definitely worth getting on campus this fall!

The Jackrabbits are getting quite the steal in senior [player_tooltip player_id='1105168' first='Alex' last='Uchtman'], who showed out at both receiver and cornerback. The biggest play of the night for Alex was when he took a quick screen pass 43 yards to the house, showing off impressive speed on the way. Uchtman displayed great burst after the catch, which helped him outpace defenders with good tackling angles on him. One thing that has always stood out about Alex as a receiver is his aggressiveness when attacking the ball at the catch point, ensuring he's the only one getting hands on it and that he'll hold on through contact. On the defensive side, Alex's overall athleticism and instincts make him a huge asset in pass coverage with the speed/agility to stick with his receiver in man and can lock down different parts of the field in zone.

Iowa State-bound LB [player_tooltip player_id='1114606' first='Barry' last='Fries'] was the top producer on the defensive side of the ball as he recorded eight stops. Right from the jump, Barry looks the part of a Power 5 backer with a massive 6'3" (looks closer to 6'4"), 225-pound frame that stands out in the middle of the defense. He is explosive as he attacks his gaps and has underrated speed that helps him close on the ball in a flash. Great physicality at the point of attack with the power and tackling technique to ensure he makes the stop on impact. Great range, good football IQ, and all the measurables... big time pick up by the Cyclones!

This was my first in-person look at offensive lineman [player_tooltip player_id='1699285' first='Parker' last='Brown'], who I believe has the potential to be a highly-touted recruit in the '27 cycle. He started at left tackle, where he showed he can more than hold his own against a physical Griffin's defensive line. At 6'4" and 270 pounds, Parker has the size that projects well with solid length to his frame and room to continue adding mass at the next level. The biggest thing that stood out to me was how well Parker can move, showing good footwork when dropping into pass protection and when run blocking. He maintains good balance in his base and has the lateral quickness to execute various blocks, including the ability to pull block and seal off the edge on outside runs. There are still some areas of improvement in Parker's game, but it's clear the upside is there!

Sophomore receiver [player_tooltip player_id='1591394' first='Drew' last='Meyer'] is another young player on the Wolves roster with the tools to draw a lot of college attention. Drew's numbers from Thursday night may not pop off the page, but they also don't necessarily tell the entire story, as he had his man beat on a few deep routes but was just unable to connect with his QB for the big play. He did manage to haul in three receptions for 21 yards, however. At 6'4" and 205 pounds, Meyer is a big-bodied pass catcher who can dominate on the outside and be your go-to jump ball receiver. Meyer is not just a "go deep and track the ball" guy either, as he's shown he can work the short and intermediate parts of the field, to be a reliable target when you just need to move the chains. Look forward to seeing more from the rising sophomore!
