Through 6 games, Jake has helped lead the charge for a suffocating Jr. Jay defense with four sacks to go with his 11 tackles, 5.5 TFLs, and a forced fumble. Brock has upside on both sides of the ball, but I think he projects best to the defensive line, where he primarily plays on the interior, but also has the versatility to move over to defensive end. The thing that stands out right away from Jake's game is his motor to keep battling through the whistle. He gets off the ball very well and is quick to shoot his hands to be the first to make contact at the point of attack. Brock also flashes a powerful base with the strength to move blockers off the line while also possessing the lateral quickness to track down ball carriers, even chasing them down 10-15 yards downfield. Great run defender whose efforts often go unnoticed on the stat sheet. Watch out for this guy!      <a href="https://x.com/ayron_shaw2027" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">(@ayron_shaw2027)</a>   Right alongside Jake is his classmate and fellow defensive lineman, [player_tooltip player_id='1085149' first='Ayron' last='Shaw'], who is also having a breakout year. Ayron is tied with Jake for the team lead in sacks with four, along with nine tackles and 3.5 TFLs. On the Prep defensive line, Ayron is responsible for manning one of the defensive end spots, where he has demonstrated the ability to win with either power or finesse. He has the strength to bully his way into opposing backfields with heavy hands and a powerful leg drive. Shaw has also demonstrated his ability to work the edge, using his quickness to fire off the ball and collapse the pocket on the outside, or he can use his impressive lateral mobility to cut back across the blocker's face to win inside. Shaw does a great job in helping contain the outside run with the ability to shed blocks and continue pursuing the ball. Already an impressive set of skills with tons of upside!      <a href="https://x.com/BrettLangan" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">(@BrettLangan)</a>   Bennington has been an excellent place to go if you're looking for offensive line prospects, and it seems like junior [player_tooltip player_id='1699284' first='Brett' last='Langan'] is next up. The Badgers' starting right tackle has been a key blocker for an offense that has been taking off since an early-season loss. At 6'3" and 240 pounds, Brett has solid size and length with room to continue adding some bulk to his frame at the next level. Langan's physicality at the point of attack stood out right away, displaying a quick, powerful strike and a mean streak when battling with defenders. Brett's hands are also an impressive part of his game, with his ability to hand-fight/counter pass rushers at the line of scrimmage, as well as the accurate placement of his hands when he lands his punch. Once he's engaged, Brett does an excellent job maintaining leverage and pad level, with the power in his hips to upend defenders and finish the block in the dirt. Good footwork and mobility— climbs to the second level with ease. Very balanced blocker who can hold his own as a pass protector and can bring it as a run defender. Projectable G/T prospect who should be landing on more coaches' radars soon!      <a href="https://x.com/RyanBoehle" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">(@RyanBoehle)</a>   The season may not be going the way the Islanders have hoped for, but there have still been several bright spots on the roster, including junior [player_tooltip player_id='720359' first='Ryan' last='Boehle']. Ryan is a player I have projected as a linebacker at the next level, but he is currently playing on the defensive line and has found ways to make plays with a team-leading 49 tackles, 8 TFLs, two sacks, five fumble recoveries, and one forced fumble. Whether Boehle continues on the DL at the next level is unknown, but I do think his experience at defensive end will pay dividends eventually. He is showing that he can hold the edge by stacking blockers at the line of scrimmage before ripping away to pursue the ball. He's quite the force at the point of contact when tackling and is a pretty secure tackler when he meets backs in the hole. Boehle keeps his hands very active to work through blocks and has a good motor to stay in pursuit of the ball carrier. Interesting prospect who should gain attention sooner rather than later!      <a href="https://x.com/BryceJohnson311">(@BryceJohnson311)</a>   One of the bigger breakout players coming out of the '27 class is Bellevue West junior [player_tooltip player_id='1085136' first='Bryce' last='Johnson Jr'], who has hovered around the top 5 in terms of receiving productionin the state all season. Through six games, Bryce has hauled in 25 receptions for 623 yards and six receiving touchdowns. My biggest takeaway from watching Bryce's midseason tapes was that he is an explosive deep threat receiver who can take the top off of a defense. He gets off the LOS very well with the ability to build up speed and get vertical in a few quick strides. As a deep threat, Bryce also does an excellent job of tracking the ball and can hit his next gear to make sure he's able to get under it. He'll rack up YAC totals if you're not able to tackle him immediately. Johnson isn't just a receiver that can go straight down the field though, he's also shown that he can run a solid route tree and be a threat at all levels of the field. He is sharp at the top of his route with a good sense for finding and sinking into the soft spots of coverage and adjusts well on the fly.
