5. Iona Prep (Last Week, 1)

The Gaels have lost their first game since September of last year. In a matchup against Monsignor Farrell, where we were in attendance Friday night. The Gaels fell short 28-21, and now sit 6-1 on the season and 2nd in the Catholic League. Despite the loss, Iona has played a tricky schedule, and has quality wins, against teams like Somers, St. Anthony's, Cardinal Hayes, Paramus Catholic, and Chaminade. The Gaels will bounce back and have an away game against Kellenberg this week, before facing the Crusaders to end the season. Due to the loss, they drop from the number one spot for the first time this season.

4. St. Francis (Last Week, 6)

Catholic Memorial is still the only loss for the Monsignor Martin squad. The Red Raiders sit at 6-1 on the season, and have McDowell next on their schedule, before a top 15 matchup against Canisius. Right now, this team is the best in Western New York. The Red Raiders had a big in League test against Bishop Timon St.Jude, and they picked up a huge 59-35 win. The Canisius game will decide the Monsignor Martin A League this season. St. Francis moves up this week, due to continued winning, the competition level, and the loss from the Gaels.

3. Archbishop Stepinac (Last Week, 3)

Before the season, I was deemed crazy, for having the Crusaders as a potential top team in the state. After a one win 2024 season, Coach Magee and his squad sit at 6-2 and have two games left on their schedule with St. Anthony's this week, and Iona Prep next week. Both games are extremely important games for playoff seeding in the Catholic League. The Crusaders have a legit shot to win out this season, and finish 8-2 on the year. Since losing two in a row, the Crusaders have picked up four straight wins against tricky opponents. A win this week could have Archbishop Stepinac in the top two.

2. CBA-Syracuse (Last Week, 2)

The Brother's from Syracuse stay at second on this list. CBA-Syracuse played their toughest game of the season, in a matchup against Liverpool. The Section Three Warriors, were ranked #10 last week, and found themselves on the wrong end of a blowout this week. The Brothers have a cake-walk to the playoffs now, and I expect to see them facing off in Albany in a state championship. Sitting at 7-0, only Cicero-North Syracuse remains on the schedule, and a win locks them in as the one seed. The continued success of the Brothers begs the question, whether they should be playing public schools. Time will tell for that answer, but for now we find them once against at second on the power rankings.

1. Monsignor Farrell (Last Week, NR)

Due to the bye week, Monsignor Farrell found themselves unranked last week. This week, they are no doubt the best team in the state. Sophomore QB [player_tooltip player_id='1283757' first='Bryce' last='Moye'] looked like a pro against one of the most talented rosters in the north east. The Lions took down Iona Prep, and gave them their first loss in over a year. Coach RDP, has his squad ready to claim the first seed in the Catholic League playoffs, and just needs to win this weekend against St. Joseph By the Sea. After this week, a matchup with Cardinal Hayes awaits the Lions, in what could see them finishing with a 9-1 season, with a lone loss to Delbarton (NJ).
