Crusaders Backfield Duo

Offensively for Brother Rice it was what they accomplished on the ground as their 1-2 punch of 2026 back [player_tooltip player_id='401611' first='Jaylin' last='Green'] and 2027 rusher [player_tooltip player_id='1303748' first='Jameson' last='Davis'] were outstanding. Green is a smooth runner that has some power at the end of runs as well. Also showed he could catch the ball. Scored four touchdowns in the victory including a 6 yard jet sweep off left tackle, 5 yard dash up the middle, 15 yard score, and then a 19 yard touchdown off the right side then cutting back. Davis had a 14 yard score off the left side. Showed good speed and vision on the second level being slippery with the ball and breaking tackles. If that's not enough ranked 2028 running back Decatur Washington came in late to make some impressive plays with his combination of power and speed running out the clock.

Brother Rice Offensive Line Dominant Led by Posey

The Crusaders offensive line was a force in this one getting consistent push and opening up holes in the run game. Really like what we saw from highly ranked 2027 left tackle [player_tooltip player_id='1335452' first='Ethan' last='Posey']. Great size, frame, and athleticism. Moves bodies in the run game driving with his legs. Seals blocks to open holes along with being mobile getting to the second level. Along with Posey they got strong performances up front from offensive lineman Joe Siegler, Peter Hosty, [player_tooltip player_id='401625' first='QwaMaine' last='Spivery'], Matthew Pikus, and [player_tooltip player_id='1855440' first='Tyler' last='Frazier']. Also credit top 5 2028 [player_tooltip player_id='1682020' first='Jack' last='McNamara'] at tight end who was a monster in the blocking game all night long showing he can be a complete player.

Gray Dual Theat QB

Brother Rice signal caller [player_tooltip player_id='801994' first='CJ' last='Gray'] is a dual threat quarterback that runs the RPO game very well for his squad. Manipulates the ball and makes solid reads on when to hand it off and when to throw. Had a 25 yard dime for a TD on a deep post route. Throws it from different angles with zip. Only real mistake was an interception where he forced it into coverage trying to extend a play. Most impressive moment was probably when he thought the play was called dead as did most of the offense and was wrapped up by a St. Laurence defender who he proceeded to throw to the ground like a rag doll then sprinted to the corner of endzone for a score. Junior [player_tooltip player_id='1196115' first='Lucas' last='Strang'] was his go to receiver in this one. Caught the 25 yard deep post after he had dropped a short pass a moment earlier showing resiliency. Good on bubble screens and slant routes. Also had a long run on a jet sweep.

Elite Trio Dominate Up Front for Brother Rice Defensively

The big three of P4 defensive lineman were beasts in this game. It all started with 2028 superstar [player_tooltip player_id='1052814' first='Kameron' last='McGee'] who has made an extremely strong statement that he should move to #1 in our next update. The edge rusher has everything you could ask for with his size, speed, athleticism, and football instincts. Consistently made tackles for loss all night including blowing up back to back plays for massive losses almost grabbing the ball before the QB could hand it off. So much speed crashing down off the edge vs the run. In the pass he got pressure on limited attempts rushing the passer to get rid of it early. Top 2027 defensive lineman [player_tooltip player_id='1334133' first='Brayden' last='Parks'] is a massive body on the interior that can really move. He is a physical run stuffer that was a force clogging up holes and making tackles all night. Quickness and good use of hands getting in backfield. Had a sack on a scrambling QB. In limited action you can see the size and athleticism from Illini commit [player_tooltip player_id='208769' first='King' last='Liggins'] who is one of the better defensive tackles in the senior class. Junior [player_tooltip player_id='1857217' first='Landon' last='Gilbert'] is another big and athletic defensive tackle to track who put his name on our radar. Senior edge Michael Fitzgerald was active flying around and making plays. In the defensive backfield senior safety [player_tooltip player_id='401594' first='Austin' last='Mrskos'] came up with an interception on a deep fly ball in centerfield which he ran back for a nice gain. Defensive back Johnathan Harris showed some range and speed in the junior class.

Who Caught Our Attention for St. Laurence?

Obviously a difficult night for St. Laurence, but their best play came in a spurt in the first half when defensive back Michael Riley got a pick showing nice coverage skills on a scramble play. Then shortly after running back Cory Les who is actually a Louisville baseball commit threw an 80 yard touchdown on a deep throw putting good air and touch on the throw. It went to fellow senior Matt Williams who slipped by defenders after making the catch. Best prospect on this team is EDGE player [player_tooltip player_id='409208' first='Sean' last='Rice']. He is a strong and athletic combo player that has sideline to sideline pursuit and is a good tackler.
