Friday Night Freshmen: The Future of Class AA/A (Pt. 2)

It's always difficult for freshmen to make an impact on varsity in their first year of high school, but there are always some early names to keep close tabs on for the future. Here are some freshmen seeing varsity action with film this season!    Tyler Consolidated has a potentially exciting prospect in 2029 QB [player_tooltip player_id='1971724' first='Ashton' last='Morris'], who colleges will want to keep tabs on over the next three years. Listed at 6'1 195, Morris will have enticing size for the position and has put some good throws on film from his freshman season thus far. He's expectedly raw as a passer right now in his first year of high school, but Morris has made some wow throws in his game clips that lead you to believe he'll develop into a future star for the Knights.      [player_tooltip player_id='1971732' first='Ethan' last='Pierce'] has emerged as a top defensive back for the St. Marys Blue Devils in his freshman season and will be a four-year player to know. He's credited with 17 passes defended and an interception to date and will give reps as a ball carrier on offense as well. At 6'1 185, Pierce has great early size for a freshman skill player and has the athleticism to match it, which will allow him to be versatile positionally as a prospect. Pierce is likely to develop into a future star for St. Marys and is someone to keep a close eye on at the small school level over the next three years.      Williamstown is having a down year for its high standards and is utilizing a bevy of underclassmen who will become future standouts for the Yellowjackets. One of those young players who should consistently develop over time is 2029 RB/LB [player_tooltip player_id='1971728' first='JP' last='Strobl']. He's seeing both JV and varsity action this season on both sides of the ball and has made plays on offense and defense. Offensively, he can line up as a FB/H-Back and be utilized as a blocker or beat defenses on seam passes if defenses fall asleep.      Wyoming East has a potential future playmaker in 2029 WR [player_tooltip player_id='1971730' first='Cameron' last='Huffman'] that he's flashed throughout his freshman season. He's a quick and fast slot receiver type who can be utilized in a variety of ways on offense to get the ball in his hands. Huffman can beat defenses over the top with his speed and does a nice job after the catch as well on screen passes and quick throws. He can consistently get to the corner and will outrun defenders down the sideline if he gets a step on them. Huffman also does well on sweeps and can line up in the backfield as well to get the ball in his hands easier.      [player_tooltip player_id='1971731' first='Kaiden' last='Toney'] is doing a nice job in his freshman season for the Meadow Bridge Wildcats as a two-way player. The 2029 prospect has made some plays at linebacker in his first season and is a good special teams player as well. Toney has some athleticism and plays well in space at outside linebacker, who can break down and make a tackle or drop into coverage, where he had a pick-6 against Valley. If he can make progress physically, Toney should develop into a future standout for the Wildcats from what he's put on film to date.      We just have one game of highlights to evaluate 2029 Mount View ATH [player_tooltip player_id='1971736' first='Zaylen' last='Jackson'], but he appears that he'll develop into a quality athlete for the Knights in time. Jackson has the potential to develop into a playmaker out of the slot if he continues to develop over the next three years. He has the quickness and explosive capability to be a very good after-the-catch receiver who can make defenders miss in space consistently. As we get more film of Jackson, we'll learn just how much potential he has, but there's enough to warrant a spotlight early on.      2029 Wirt County WR/DB [player_tooltip player_id='1971735' first='Andrew' last='Lemley'] has played a big role as a freshman for the Tigers on both sides of the ball and has been productive in his freshman season. He's caught 26 passes for 301 yards and is leading the team in receiving touchdowns with 7, along with 37 tackles and an interception on defense. Lemley has quality ball skills and route-running ability as a freshman, which should allow him to develop into a future standout over the next three years.
