Playing limited snaps under center last year to prepare to step into the starting role this season for Decorah, [player_tooltip player_id='1939286' first='Tanner' last='Caddell'] did have an impact for the Vikings in 2024, but he's now one of the most productive quarterbacks in all of 4A this season.

As a junior, Caddell completed 19-of-36 passes for 261 yards, a touchdown and a pick. He put together more stats on the ground, taking 60 carries for 389 yards and four scores. As a senior and the no-doubt starting quarterback, he's reached an entirely new echelon of production.

This fall, Caddell ranks in the top five in 4A in total touchdowns (19), passing touchdowns (13) and quarterback rating (174.6). He's also completed 51-of-86 passes for 765 yards and thrown just four picks. As a runner, Caddell has also taken 51 carries for 292 yards and six scores.

Like Caddell, [player_tooltip player_id='1906898' first='Dawson' last='Maki'] played and was important to Newton's defensive efforts in 2024, posting 19 tackles and two tackles-for-loss (TFLs).

This season, he ranks second in Class 4A in interceptions with four, has posted two pass-breakups (PBUs) and has already surpassed his tackling numbers from his sophomore campaign, putting together 31 total tackles (29 solo) to go with two TFLs.

In fact, one of Maki's teammates, Ali Yahia could have very well made this list, as the senior went from not registering a single stat in 2024 to now being tied for second in the state with Maki for total interceptions with four. Yahia has also posted 13 tackles.

One of the top backs in western Iowa and all of 4A, [player_tooltip player_id='1905983' first='Scott' last='Reed Jr']. has exploded onto the football scene this season for Glenwood. Last season, Reed would have hardly been anywhere on opposing teams' scouting reports, taking just 20 carries for 81 yards and zero scores to go with one catch for seven yards.

Now, the senior running back should sit at the very top of said scouting reports, as he ranks in the top five in 4A in rushing yards (929) and all-purpose yards (956). Those rushing yards have come on 118 carries, as Reed serves as the bell-cow tailback for the Rams. Five of those carries have resulted in touchdowns.

A major bright spot for a Quad Cities team down on its luck this season, [player_tooltip player_id='1939287' first='Easton' last='Smith'] is one of the most productive tacklers in all of 4A.

Ranking second in all of Class 4A behind only [player_tooltip player_id='1532913' first='Nick' last='Milburn'] of Newton, Smith has totaled 53.5 tackles in 2025. That's 53 more than he put together during his sophomore campaign with the Falcons, adding 3.5 TFLs.

He gets some help at the second level of the defense, as just 21 of those tackles are of the solo variety. Some of those helpers include senior linebacker Adam Anderson, who has 40.5 tackles, and junior linebacker Lucas Workman with 34.

A one-time transfer to Iowa City Liberty, [player_tooltip player_id='1619461' first='Keshawn' last='Wyldon'] did most of his work on the defensive side of the ball for the Lightning last season, posting 47 tackles between playing defensive back and linebacker.

Those aren't numbers to look down on by any means, but Wyldon finds himself among the surprise standouts, as he's not only transferred to Burlington, but he's the most productive running back in the class.

Through six games, Wyldon ranks first in rushing touchdowns (15), rushing yards (1,005), rushing yards per carry (11.7) and longest rushing touchdown (98 yards). He ranks second in all-purpose yards (1,069), as well.
