Cornerbacks Who Have Impressed This Season

He is athletic and fluid enough to flip his hips and stay with the receivers so his eyes can stay locked onto the QB. If the QB throws the ball his way, then he is already locked on to the pass catcher and looking for the ball. He is very instinctive and he can jump routes to break up a pass or tackle the receiver instantly. Amillione has 5 interceptions on the season and is very dangerous after the catch. He is physical enough to jam receivers at the LOS to throw them off of their route but then recover and stay with the receiver for their route. He is a stout tackler and can dip under blockers to tackle a ball carrier for a loss. Connor has good size (6 ‘1) and length to stay with bigger receivers. Honestly, most offenses don't like throwing to him, but he still has 7-pass deflections on the season. He has excellent ball skills to swat away passes or pick them off. Van plays the ball well and can quickly turn around his hips when the ball is in the air so he can break up the pass. In the few times that his receiver does catch a pass, Van is quick to jump to the receiver to stop them for a short gain. He is a sure handed tackler and can patrol the secondary with some aggressiveness. He has so many intangibles that you want in an impact defensive back. Quickness to jump routes, technique to match a receiver step for step down field, and even some aggressiveness to blow up either receivers or blockers; Benjamin does it all. He has 3 interceptions this year and 35.5 tackles. The Senior is a huge reason why Hudson has started out 5-1 this year. He won't lose ground on a route as he can come in and out of his pack pedal quickly. He has athleticism to his game where he can high point a ball away from the receiver while being in midair. His speed helps him stay with the receivers for the entire route. His offensive abilities pay off on defense where he has wide receiver like ball skills. Reggie is a rapidly improving player for Whitefish Bay and the Senior has had a big year in the 2025 season. He lines up everywhere; from the slot to outside cornerback, to a hybrid safety/linebacker. You want to know what the crazy thing is? Makai is making plays at all of these positions. He is able to blow up receivers when they cross the middle of the field, stick with receivers in coverage or run up to the LOS and drop the runner instantly. Makai was good last season but has taken his game to a whole new level this year. His 6 ‘2 frame towers over receivers and that helps him reach around or over the offensive player to break up passes. He is athletically gifted and is rarely beat horizontally or vertically. Bennett's track background helps him flourish in pass coverage. His instincts and leaping ability make a highly impactful cornerback.
