Below, we break down ten games from week three. Plus we have links to breakdowns and highlights from games we covered this week. Keep it locked in to Prep Redzone Oklahoma every single day for new content throughout the 2025 football season!

RELATED

PAWHUSKA 44, WOODLAND 12

- GAME BREAKDOWN

- HIGHLIGHTS

PERKINS-TRYON 70, WEBSTER 18

- GAME BREAKDOWN

- HIGHLIGHTS

WEEK THREE ROUND UP

BIXBY 57, CHOCTAW 7

It was 6A-1's #1 Bixby hosting 6A-2's #1 Choctaw in a battle of top-ranked teams and defending state champions. Bixby is playing at another level this season and they were expected to take care of business in this match-up. And the Spartans took 12 minutes of game time to back up all the hype that they are hands down the measuring stick in Oklahoma. The Spartans took the opening kickoff back for a touchdown and by the end of the first quarter, they led the Yellowjackets 36-0. Bixby will now switch gears and start preparations for a massive district opener. They go on the road to face #2 Jenks Friday night. For Choctaw, they now reset and start district play after a 1-2 start and three straight road games to start the season. But just as a reminder, they started 1-2 last year and ran the table to win the state title.

CARL ALBERT 28, STILLWATER 19

Carl Albert might have just faced the toughest test they'll see all year and passed with flying colors. The Titans beat Stillwater 28-19 at home on Friday night to win their 42nd consecutive game. Stillwater has been dominant so far, averaging over 50 points per game in their first two games. They were held to just 19 points on Friday night and the Titans look like a team destined to go undefeated again and capture another state championship. Another gold ball would be their 20th in program history, which would set the new record in state history. Stillwater is a championship contender in Class 6A-2 and now they have to regroup and prepare for district play. They'll take it one game at a time but we can't help but look ahead and start eyeballing that week seven clash with top-ranked Choctaw.

DAVIS 36, PLAINVIEW 35 (OT)

Davis got out to a fast start but they had to hold on for dear life and then have some late game heroics in extra time to get the win over Plainview on Friday night. The Wolves scored a touchdown on fourth and goal in overtime and decided to go for the two-point conversion and get the win and they did just that. But they also squandered a 20-7 first quarter lead and this became one of the more entertaining games of week three. The Wolves bounced back from a tough loss to rival Sulphur and now enter district play at 2-1. A much different story than this time last year when they entered district play at 0-3. The loss was Plainview's first on the year as they've gotten off to a very good start this season and are going to be a team to watch in Class 3A. It was another southern Oklahoma classic.

ELGIN 42, NEWCASTLE 24

Top-ranked and defending champion Elgin finished off district play with a 3-0 start following another decisive win over a 5A top ten team. The owls took down Newcastle 42-24 on Friday night and this was a Newcastle team that scored 60+ points the week before. The Owls had just about everything working for them on the offensive side of the ball. They were incredibly efficient and balanced as they dominated this week three match-up. The Owls certainly look like a team that could make another trip to Edmond and defend that state title from last season. Newcastle now looks to regroup and get ready for district play. The Racers made a run to the 5A semifinals a year ago and they definitely have the talent to do it again in 2025. But on Friday night, the Owls were executing at a very high level.

HERITAGE HALL 43, MILLWOOD 6

After a long two weeks following a tough loss to Lincoln Christian in week one, Heritage Hall finally returned to the field and beat up on Millwood 43-6 on Friday night. The Chargers had to play without their starting quarterback but it didn't matter. The offense was not slowed down by who was missing as they got out to a very fast start. Ultimately, they led the Falcons 22-0 by the end of the first quarter and they put it on cruise control from there. Millwood avoided the shutout with a touchdown in the fourth quarter. Unfortunately for the Falcons, they have now started the season at 0-2 following a rivalry loss last week to Douglass. And the Falcons have to turn things around quickly. They compete in one of the toughest districts in Class 2A-1 and won't have much room for error.

LAWTON MACARTHUR 60, PONCA CITY 57 (OT)

Lawton MacArthur might have gotten the best win of week three or at the very least the most dramatic victory on Friday night. The Highlanders prevailed over Ponca City, winning 60-57 in overtime. At one point in the third quarter, the Highlanders trailed by 20 points and they had to rally just to make it to overtime. Ponca City had the ball first in overtime and on the first play, the fumbled it away and things were looking really good for the Highlanders. After moving the ball a few yards, Lawton MacArthur hit the game-winning field goal to beat the Wildcats. They've now won three straight and are playing outstanding football following a season-opening loss to defending 4A champion Elgin. Ponca City looks to bounce back as they open district play against Muskogee.

PAWNEE 38, HOMINY 34

If Lawton MacArthur got the most dramatic victory, Pawnee got the wildest finish. The Black Bears were seconds away from losing to Hominy on Friday night. But they scored from a little over 20 yards out with eight seconds left in the game to stun the Bucks and walk away with a 38-34 victory. For Hominy, they nearly bounced back with a week three win following a tough loss to Pawhuska last week. But it wasn't meant to be as the Black Bears continued their hot start and take plenty of momentum with them into the district. Pawnee is 2-1 on the season and they are a team that looks like they can contend with Pawhuska for that district crown this season. Hominy is now 1-2 following back to back losses to A-1 top ten teams. The Bucks are going to be one of the more dangerous 1-2 teams in the state.

REJOICE CHRISTIAN 31, CHRISTIAN HERITAGE 7

Rejoice Christian prevailed over Christian Heritage twice in 2024, with the second time coming in the semifinals before they captured their first state championship in school history. On Friday night, they went on the road and prevailed again, beating Christian Heritage 31-7 behind their two dynamic stars and a solid defense. The Eagles were leading 10-0 and then added another touchdown late in the second quarter to take a 17-0 lead over the Crusaders. With the way Rejoice had been playing on the defensive side of the ball, a 17-point lead was more than enough cushion to get the win. The Crusaders came up short but this is still a team to watch in Class A-1. They have dropped two of their first three games but they also started slow last year and rallied to make that semifinal run.

VIAN 41, POCOLA 20

Vian continued to dominate the series with Pocola after beating the Indians 41-20 on Friday night. The Wolverines bounced back from a brutal loss to Kiefer by taking their frustrations out on visiting Pocola. The Indians struck first on a pick six but the Wolverines immediately answered with 21 unanswered points. Compared to some other Vian-Pocola match-ups, it's clear that the Indians could start closing the gap and the years where they get shut out and beat by 50-60 points might be in the past. Our biggest takeaways from this match-up is the fact that both teams should be taken seriously in their respective classes. Vian made it all the way to the 2A-2 title game a year ago and all signs point to them making another trip. Pocola is looking for their first deep playoff journey and that could come this year.

WAGONER 21, BRISTOW 20

The Wagoner Bulldogs got their first win for first year head coach Kimes Gilbert but it wasn't an easy one and there were plenty of dramatics. The Bulldogs beat Bristow 21-20 on Friday night following a touchdown with a little over a minute to play. That allowed Wagoner to prevail and for Gilbert it was a solid win before the Bulldogs go into district play. It's not easy to replace a legend and Gilbert's predecessor literally has his name on the stadium. These two teams used to be district rivals but now both teams will go into district play looking to make some noise. For Wagoner, it's been a district that they have absolutely dominated but it's a new era for the Bulldogs. Bristow is looking to be that surprise team in Class 3A and they've already turned some heads in the early portion of this season.
