CLASS AAAA
MUSSELMAN APPLEMEN
Defeated Wheeling Park 21-14
The Musselman Applemen are still in rebuilding mode after a couple of tough seasons the past two years. Still, they're clearly getting back on track with a huge momentum-building win over previously unbeaten Wheeling Park. The Patriots traveled to the Eastern Panhandle in back-to-back weeks and had their own big win over 2024 state runner-up Spring Mills the week prior. Many expected them to head back to the Northern Panhandle with another victory over an EPAC team, but the Applemen had an upset on their mind.
Musselman saw themselves in a goal-to-go situation with under 30 seconds left in the game as the Patriots looked to tie or go for the win with a score and a two-point conversion. Two negative plays by the offense pushed the visitors back to the 14-yard line, and the Applemen successfully defended two passes thrown into the end zone for their big Week Three victory and game ball.
CLASS AAA
HERBERT HOOVER HUSKIES
Defeated Nitro 15-14
Two of the top teams in Class AAA this season duked it out in week three in a very evenly matched contest between Herbert Hoover and Nitro. You can expect both of these teams to make some noise in the playoffs as they're both capable of making a deep run. The home-standing Huskies pulled out the tight 15-14 victory over the Wildcats and limited a very potent opponent offense greatly.
If this game were played 10 times with each team getting 5 home games, you'd likely see a 5-5 series tie between the two. However, Herbert Hoover came out victorious this round and won the game on a 29-yard field goal by

with 1:06 remaining in the game, and the Huskies did the rest to close out their huge week three win.
CLASS AA
LOGAN WILDCATS
Defeated Tug Valley 27-12
The Logan Wildcats are 3-0 to start a season for the first time since 2022, which was also their last playoff appearance. They're on the fast track to reaching that postseason goal again this season after missing out on the playoffs each of the past two years. The Wildcats defeated a talented Tug Valley squad, which will be one of the top teams in Class A this season, 27-12.
Logan has some tough matchups remaining on their schedule that will tell us more about their ceiling as a team, but the future is bright in Wildcats land again with some talented young players in the program to continue building around moving forward.
CLASS A:
WHEELING CENTRAL MAROON KNIGHTS
Defeated Williamstown 47-19
After a very tough week two loss to Fort Frye (OH) in week two, that may have had some people down on the Maroon Knights, Wheeling Central bounced back in a big way this week against Williamstown. They made a statement to the rest of Class A with the 47-19 drubbing of an always good Class AA Williamstown program and proved that week two wasn't their best representation.
It's going to take a special effort to take down the Maroon Knights in the Class A playoffs this season, as they'll be well-battle-tested with a gauntlet of a small school schedule if Wheeling Central can stay healthy throughout the season.
