Week 2 Scouting Report: Harbor Beach

What a performance by Harbor Beach. They showed they're one of the most well rounded teams in D8 and have a prolific offense. Plenty of talent to talk about for this Pirates squad, let's get right into it!    MVP of the day 100% goes to Caden for his performance. On both sides of the ball, he looked like the guy. Defensively, he was a hard hitting downhill LB with a ton of power. He made great reads and was able to plug a couple of runs at or behind the line of scrimmage. Offensively, Caden was a true threat on every play. On the ground, he was a bruising force who ran through arm tackles and finished every run. He was able to open up and pass a few times and mad a couple really nice throws that definitely weren't easy. I can confidently say he could absolutely be of value at the next level.     Another tremendous day for Bennson Harper. Specifically on offense, I was really impressed with his versatility. I came into the game knowing what he could do as a receiver, and he showed those skills. He had a couple of circus catches that not everyone can make. I was also really impressed by his ability on the ground. He took a few handoffs and was able to get into the open field and make guys miss along the way. As most smaller school athletes, he played both was and he had a good day on that side of the ball as well, but his true value comes as a WR/RB and his ability to jump and run with anyone. Looking forward to seeing how he develops, he's another guy that should absolutely have shots at the next level.     Luke was a nice discovery for me. He got some opportunities offensively, and looked good, but I loved what he did on the defensive side of the ball. A few plays really convinced me that he is a student of the game. Specifically, he sniffed out a couple of screens and was able to fly up and make the play to stop it in its tracks. He had no issue making tackles in the open field and was sure to get them on the ground when he got ahold of them. Great overall performance out of him, definitely contributed to their big win.     Another classic, old school downhill linebacker here. I took note of a couple of big hits he was able to deliver in the run game. Much like his teammate that I mentioned earlier, his play recognition and ability to get to his spot was really impressive. Loved seeing that he packed a little more power and never got fatigued for the entirety of the game. Messing was a huge part of the reason they were able to practically shut down the OLW offense after they were able to get a couple of early scores.     I took note of Skiler pretty early. I had seen some highlights of his from last year, but wasn't sure what to expect out of him. With his size, I thought he should be able to make his presence felt, and it seemed like he did that. Playing that EDGE position, Kruse was able to set the edge and turn things back inside. OLW tried a couple of runs to his side and had trouble turning the corner thanks to Skiler. He had a few reps where he fired off low and shed his block quickly to get into the backfield which was great to see. Really good job by him contributing to that impressive defensive performance.
