Among an intriguing class of prospects, a trio of players from the 2029 recruiting cycle have put forth strong starts to their high school football careers this fall.

[player_tooltip player_id='1537396' first='Maddox' last='Porter'] was one of the players I was most excited to watch heading into this season and he has not disappointed after a strong summer on both the football and baseball fields. He has been highly productive scoring five touchdowns in his first two games and averaging over 100 yards per game. His length and athleticism give him an unlimited ceiling to work toward over the next four years at Battle Ground Academy and is on pace to be the top recruit in the state for the 2029 cycle. However, to reach his full potential, he will have to continue working on getting through contact to arrive at where he is supposed to be on time. As he gets stronger and more nuanced, his potential is unlimited.

[player_tooltip player_id='1538130' first='Luke' last='Tritch'] transferred to Riverdale over the offseason and that decision has already paid off for the freshman who has been an instant impact slot receiver. As one would expect with a high school freshman slot receiver, he is undersized at the moment, but he has shown the ability to tempo his routes and knows how to work with space to create a catching opportunity for himself in this offense. He has been a pleasant surprise through two weeks of the season, including posting 138 yards and a touchdown in his second high school football game.

Anderson County quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='723014' first='JD' last='Gillum'] had hype entering the season and was in a favorable situation where he would not have to do too much as a freshman with the weapons at his disposal. However, he would still have to open his high school career against two of the top programs in the Knoxville area, in which he did not look out of place. As a distributor, he has shown he can work different arm angles to get the ball out and fit the throw into a tight window. He did miss the last quarter and a half last week, but he will be an exciting young signal caller to watch this season.
