The Warriors got it, disappointing a City High homecoming crowd with a 40-19 triumph. It was their second win in a row after starting the campaign 0-3.

Here's a closer look at Norwalk student-athletes that stood out:

I finally had a chance to scout Brewer in person when Norwalk visited Iowa City High midway through the 2025 season. It was a good thing, as our No. 1 player in the 2027 Class recently reclassified to 2026. The move has intensified the recruitment of one of the country's top tight ends, who had two Iowa assistants and a Miami (FL) coach at this game. Brewer showed off what makes him special as a receiver, catching seven balls for 70 yards and two touchdowns. He's a matchup nightmare, too big for defensive backs and too fast for linebackers. All of that said, what impressed me the most about Brewer was his willingness to block and ability to execute in that discipline. He's a physical presence already with a frame that can comfortably add mass without losing speed and agility. Whoever ends up with Brewer will be upgrading its tight end immediately. Brewer will play early in college.

I'd watched tape on Robbins the last few seasons and was intrigued by his broad-ranged skill set. That was heightened when he committed to the University of Iowa as a preferred walk-on. Robbins did not disappoint during an in-person scout in Week 5 of the 2025 season at Iowa City High. Robbins immediately stood out as a three-phase contributor and one of the best players on the field. He's one of those guys that appears to be playing a speed or two faster than the opponent. The Hawkeyes view him as a defensive back, which makes a lot of sense. He delivered eight solo tackles in this one. Robbins gets downhill quickly and packs a punch. A path to success as a Hawkeye safety is easy to envision. A future at receiver isn't hard to see, either. He caught 11 passes for 103 yards and a touchdown here. He took his lone kick return back 24 yards as well. Robbins is an FBS level recruit with a chance to do damage on the next level no matter where he lines up.

I received my first in-person look at Hatlevig during Week 5 at Iowa City High. He completed 23 of 33 pass attempts for 235 yards and four touchdowns without any turnovers. Hatlevig has the classic pocket passer's frame with a big arm and durability. He's not a statute, however. Athleticism and mobility allow him to pick up yards with his legs when there's an opening or keep the play alive off schedule when pressure arrives. Hatlevig operates with poise, gets through progressions at a good rate and possesses instincts for the position. A bonus for colleges is there being room for growth physically and in skill development. It definitely feels like he should be receiving more attention on the recruiting trail.

Welch showed he's a solid performer in a balanced attack when I scouted him during a Week 5 game at Iowa City High. The senior toted the rock 20 times for 147 yards and a touchdown in a decisive victory. He also hauled in a couple of passes for 23 yards and stuck is nose firmly into the action as a blocker. A future as a ball carrier on the next level makes sense. There's also a path to success as a defender. He registered five solo tackles in this contest and displayed traits necessary for profit on that side of the ball. Welch enjoys the game's physicality and would be an asset on special teams, too.

Bush is displaying abilities this season that could make him a multi-phase contributor at the next level. He might fit in at receiver for some schools. He flashed upside at that position when I scouted his game at Iowa City High during Week 5 of the 2025 season. The long arms and athleticism that make him a prospect on offense also aid in delivering as a defensive back. He picked off two passes and chipped in a pair of solo tackles in this one. Bush would contribute on special teams no matter which side of the ball he'd play on the next level. Adding to the draw of him as a recruit is his frame and game having room for development, giving him a ways to go before reaching his potential.

I watched Giesemann match up against a strong offensive line of Iowa City High during a game in Week 5 of 2025. The senior accounted well for himself, generating pressure, setting the edge and crashing down on the run. It resulted in a performance that produced five solo tackles, two stops for loss and a sack. Giesemann's height and long arms work to his advantage in fending off blocks. Strength helps in separating from engagement. Giesemann understands leverage and operates with a pad level optimized for success. He can add strength and mass to his frame without losing the agility and explosiveness leading to present production.
