Scouting 2027 Interior OLine Class: Stars, Sleepers, and Secrets

The junior season is perhaps the most important year for recruits to put a strong resume on tape for college coaches to see and evaluate their games and the level of prospect they project them to turn into at the next level. In this edition of the series, we take a look at some of the intriguing names to monitor in the state of Tennessee for the 2027 recruiting cycle at the interior offensive line position.   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">SCOUTING THE STARS</h2>    [player_tooltip player_id='705894' first='Kaden' last='Buchanan'] is a sturdy interior offensive lineman with good to very good size that is impossible for defensive tackles to get through due to his strength and anchor.   With him playing right tackle this season, he has experience along the line, but he projects best on the inside, specifically as a top-notch center in my opinion. His improved ability to play in space on the outside as well as his experience as a volleyball player are evident when he identifies a second level player to block from the interior.   His anchor prevents nose tackles from gaining any advantage and he has enough athleticism to reach to the second level to take a linebacker out of the play.    <h2 class="wp-block-heading">SCOUTING THE SLEEPERS</h2>    [player_tooltip player_id='378854' first='Chris' last='Campbell'] is an athletic guard who can win in-line or as a puller and could just be scratching the surface of his potential.   He is a slender prospect relative to his frame at the moment, but he does not sacrifice a strong anchor and that should only improve with more mass added in a college strength program.   His pulling ability could give him some long-term positional flexibility if a program were to try to get him some second-hand experience at center as well, but overall an intriguing athletic interior offensive line prospect in the state.     [player_tooltip player_id='905243' first='Skyler' last='Smith'] is an exciting center prospect with great length, athleticism, and core strength for the position with the versatility to play along the offensive line as he continues to add mass to his frame.   The younger brother a Division One center, he made the move from left tackle to the position himself this season and the potential at that center has always been obvious and will only grow as he gets more comfortable snapping the ball.   He is long and athletic, allowing for him to make any block an offensive coordinator could ask, but has the core and anchor to sit down and stand defensive tackles up.   He is very effective at beating interior defensive lineman to their spots and sealing them off to take them out of the play and as his play strength gets even better with more weight to a projectable frame, he is a prospect that could see a spike in college interest.    <h2 class="wp-block-heading">SCOUTING THE SECRETS</h2>    [player_tooltip player_id='439667' first='Will' last='DeLong'] is a sturdy, heavy-set guard prospect with wrestling experience that has good size and great levels of natural strength that allows for him to completely stop defensive lineman in their tracks and take them out of the play.   He will need to continue to improve some athletic traits, but the natural size and strength make him a bruiser on the inside that is impossible to get through no matter how big the defender.   He profiles best as a road-grading run blocking guard for a team that wants to establish a powerful downhill rushing attack.
