Sack Leaders- Who’s Been Getting Into the Backfield the Most?

We've had an awesome start to the year these last three weeks!   In just the first quarter of the season, we've seen a ton of production from our defenders across the state. Today, we're checking out who some of our sack leaders are!   Make sure you check out their film below. These prospects have been on fire this season.    [player_tooltip player_id='1610217' first='Braden' last='Gordon'] is a dominant ATH out of Montgomery Academy who has made a ton of plays on both sides of the ball this year.   Defensively, Gordon completely overwhelms OL off the edge to create huge stops in the backfield. He uses his speed to his advantage and consistently pursues the ball carrier/quarterback to make impressive hustle plays nearly every snap.“   Gordon has been unstoppable this year, recording 5 sacks, 5 TFLs, and 15 total tackles.   Make sure you watch some of Gordon's tape below. He's been highly recruited and is already having a great start to his junior season. We'll have to keep track of him the rest of this fall.      [player_tooltip player_id='1881628' first='Ethan' last='Skaggs'] is a productive DL out of Westbrook Christian that's been making a big impact so far this fall.   "Skaggs is aggressive at the point of attack and plays with impressive speed, leverage, and pursuit. He's quick off the snap, can quickly work around OL, and can create a ton of plays in the backfield, both against the run and pass.   I'm really impressed with Skaggs's effort. He has a high motor and consistently puts in tons of effort to create stops, regardless of how much time is left in the game."   Skaggs has been off to a hot start this season, racking up 4 sacks, 4 TFLs, and 15 total tackles.   Make sure you check out some of Skaggs' clips below. "Massey is a highly athletic LB who flies into the backfield nearly every down. He's quick to react, has impressive speed and pursuit skills, and is constantly finding his way into the backfield to create huge stops.   I'm really impressed with Massey's blitzing. He can quickly get past the line of scrimmage and generate pressure/sacks on the quarterback, creating huge splash plays when his defense needs them most."   Massey has been terrific for Billinglsey's defense, recording 4 sacks, 9 TFLs, and 52 total tackles through three games.   Make sure you check out some of Massey's films below. He's been flying around and making tons of plays for Billingsley this fall. We'll have to watch out for him down the stretch of this year.      [player_tooltip player_id='1680281' first='Gabriel' last='Ervin'] is one of the state's top emerging DL talents. He's been a huge force up front for Gulf Shores' defense this season.   “At 6'0 250, Ervin already has the size and athleticism to make some seriously impressive plays in the trenches. He plays with great leverage, has impressive strength/power, and can explode out of his stance to win matchups at the line of scrimmage.“   So far this year, Ervin has racked up 4 sacks, 8.5 TFLs, and 22 total tackles in just 3 games.   Be sure to check out some of Ervin's tape from the first three weeks. He's been unstoppable and is finding terrific success as a sophomore; we all need to watch out for him moving forward.      Robert Taylor is a dominant DL/EDGE out of Parker who's been highly productive to open the season.   "Taylor is a dominant force off the edge; he has a terrific first step, great speed and strength, and excels at pursuing the ball carrier/quarterback. No matter what opposing offenses are attempting to run, Taylor finds ways to make their lives a lot more difficult.   He consistently finds ways into the backfield every snap, whether it be against the run or pass. The athleticism he possesses and plays with makes it incredibly difficult for offensive linemen to contain him."   So far this season, Taylor has racked up 4 sacks, 4 TFLs, and 16 total tackles.   Make sure you check out some of Taylor's film; he's been off to a dominant start this year. I won't be surprised if he stays as one of our top sack leaders this season.
