For Week 5, I decided to check out a battle between two teams sitting at 2-2, looking to gain momentum heading into the second half of the season— Omaha Westview hosting Lincoln North Star. I was expecting a gritty game between these two, and it was exactly that. Lincoln North Star started the game off with a strong opening drive that led to a touchdown. From there, each team exchanged offensive possessions that didn't yield much, with both teams' defenses settling in early. Lincoln North Star's defense bent but didn't break, as they gave up only a field goal midway through the second quarter and went into halftime holding a 7-3 lead. This remained a defensive battle for the majority of the game, with Westview finally breaking out in the second half behind a tough running game that helped chew the clock and chip away at the North Star defense. They scored two rushing touchdowns to increase their lead to 17-7 in the fourth quarter. However, it was far from over as the Gator offense scored on a catch-and-run touchdown to draw within four points. Ultimately, the Westview Wolverines were able to close out a hard-earned 17-13 victory.

Jayden Johnson, 2026 - RB

This was my first time seeing North Star's Jayden Johnson play and I was impressed by the senior RB. I don't have official stats, but would guess he was the Gator's leading rusher. Johnson is a strong powerback who can pound away at the middle of defenses with his strong base, low pad level, and ability to absorb contact. He's not a super flashy back, but he does show the wiggle to make a sharp cuts between the tackles. Solid vision allows him to quickly find open lanes. Definitely looking forward to seeing more of Jayden's tape!

[player_tooltip player_id='1114432' first='Tyrell' last='Chatman'], 2026 - ATH - Iowa State Commit - (@Tyrell_C_)

This was my first good look at Iowa State commit [player_tooltip player_id='1114432' first='Tyrell' last='Chatman'] in game play and it's clear why the Cyclones are excited for him to arrive in Ames. Chatman started at QB for the Gators where he is able to be an athlete and make plays. He has the arm to push the ball deep downfield with accuracy and has legit track speed that make him a threat to hit the homerun ball. It was a tough day for either QB with the opposing defenses having a great showing, but Chatman still found ways to find open run lanes or make quick completions over the middle of the field to keep the chains moving. Tyrell is committed at CB where he looks very natural with his mix of length, speed, and technique in coverage. He is quick to identify passing schemes and can quickly get in a position to defend the pass. Iowa State is getting a great one here!

[player_tooltip player_id='773255' first='Scott' last='Hoebelheinrich'], 2026 - LB/TE - 6'1" 195 lbs - (@ScottHoebe30672)

Whether it was on offense or defense, I felt like I kept hearing senior [player_tooltip player_id='773255' first='Scott' last='Hoebelheinrich']'s name constantly over the intercom. I don't have stats yet, but I wouldn't be surprised if he led North Star in tackles for the night. On defense, he is a well-rounded linebacker who is quick to step into a gap to fit the run or can drop back into coverage and pick up crossing receivers. Scott's 6'1", 195 pound frame helps him stop ball carriers at the point of contact and can drive them back with his strong leg drive. I was also impressed with his willingness to block on the offense, proving to be a serviceable TE/H-back who can be an asset as a run blocker. Under the radar player who can be a steal in this cycle!

[player_tooltip player_id='1625810' first='Isaac' last='Rabago'], 2026 - LB/TE - 6'1" 215 lbs - (@Isaac_Rabago08)

Right alongside Scott is fellow senior LB [player_tooltip player_id='1625810' first='Isaac' last='Rabago'] who was also constantly buzzing to the ball. He is a very reactive player who does a great job reading his keys and has a quick first step downhill once he keys in on the run. Once he gets to the ball carrier, he makes sure to get the most of his 6'1", 215 pound frame with big hits at the point of contact. Like Scott, Isaac also got in on offense, mostly to block, but also saw some targets so I'm interested in seeing more of him as a pass-catcher. Uncommitted senior who can help bolster a LB room at the next level!

Tess Tadjuidje, 2028 - DL - 6'5" 210 lbs - (@SwiftTT44)

North Star's Tess Tadjuide is a player who jumped on my radar when evaluating '28s in the spring. Tess stands out immediately with next level size and length, standing at 6'5", 210 pounds with room to continue filling out his frame. He flashed on Friday night, getting in on several stops and showing that he can use his size and athleticism to win his matchups at the line of scrimmage. Tadjuidje flashed a great motor, whether he was fighting to break into the backfield or running several yards downfield to track down the ball carrier, he made sure to play through the whistle. Definitely someone to keeps tabs on in the upcoming months!
