Week 3 led me to check out the Thursday night game between the Gretna Dragons and Blair Bears. It was quite the battle with the Bears striking first before the Dragons rattled off 21 unanswered points to take the 21-7 lead into the 4th. However, Blair remained in it until the end, as they were able to make it a one-score game with a long rushing touchdown, before the Dragons shut the door on a comeback with their own score. Gretna closed out the game with a 28-14 win over Blair.

Despite the loss, Blaise and the Bears' efforts did not go unnoticed as they gave the Dragons a tough battle. Blaise gained a hard-earned 162 rushing yards and a touchdown on 25 carries. Baughman is a very physical back who can pound away at defenses with his downhill running. He plays with great balance and strength in his lower body, which makes him a difficult back to tackle and one that likely isn't going down on first contact. Blaise also showed that he is a threat to hit a home run when he's able to bounce runs to the outside and has the speed to separate from defenses in the open field. Baughman's versatility was also on display as he caught three passes for 33 yards and a touchdown. He also recorded six tackles and converted both of his PATs. The Hastings College Broncos are getting a true workhorse!

Junior lineman [player_tooltip player_id='720313' first='Ty' last='Tessendorf'] continued to prove why he is one of the top prospects in the '27 cycle. Tessendorf started at left guard, where he is a key blocker in the Bears' run scheme and someone you try to run behind as much as possible. One thing that really stands out about Ty's game is his mean streak, especially at the point of attack, showing his willingness to take the fight to the opposing defender. Once he's locked in with his defender, Ty is looking to finish the block in the dirt and has the power in his upper and lower body to upend opponents for the pancake block. He has great lateral quickness/mobility, which really shows when he's asked to pull or climb up to the second level to seal off LBs. Ty's motor also drives him to keep going several yards downfield looking for more blocks to pick up and playing through the whistle. Big, physical lineman with a mean streak... coaches start locking in!

Junior [player_tooltip player_id='1539618' first='Nathan' last='Murray'] is a player who hopped on my radar after a strong sophomore season and looks like he's continued that momentum into 2025. Through the night, it seemed like Nathan finished around the ball on nearly every play, so I wasn't surprised to see he ended with 11 tackles. Murray's versatility is a major asset to have on the field, as you can play him as the deep safety, at nickel, or even up near the line of scrimmage. Nate outplays any disadvantages in size by being physical both at the point of contact when making a tackle, willingness to press receivers, and when playing the ball in coverage. He is very disciplined when reading the QB's eyes and diagnoses plays very well, which led to his interception. Smart player who will only continue to fine-tune his skills!

Senior [player_tooltip player_id='487563' first='Griffin' last='Rosterman'] is a rising prospect who has looked solid through the first three games of the season, including last week against the Dragons. Rosterman ended the night with seven tackles, a TFL, and a sack while playing linebacker for the Bears. What stood out to me about Griffin's game is how quickly he can explode through a gap when he keys the run. He had several impressive plays where he closed on the ball very well as he hit his hole and was able to stonewall the RB at the line of scrimmage. When he gets to the ball carrier, Griffin hits to make a stop, using solid technique and power to make sure he secures the tackle. Good hands to quickly fight through blockers while maintaining a nonstop pursuit. Keep an eye on this guy!
