On Friday night, a battle of prestigious programs takes place as Baylor travels to play against Brentwood Academy, a matchup consisting of arguably the best team in each region of the DII-AAA classification in Tennessee high school football.

Both teams are filled with prospects to keep tabs on and the game could come down to a handful on intriguing matchups that will be interesting to watch unfold.

Baylor offensive line vs Brentwood Academy box defense

The second half of the game last week was rough up front for the Baylor offense leading to the team having to completely abandon the middle of the field until star tailback David Gabriel Georges took over at the very end. This is a game that Baylor should be able to run the ball up the middle, but the offensive line will have to rebound.

I mentioned [player_tooltip player_id='1318538' first='Roman' last='Jennings'] as a junior linebacker that could see his recruitment pick up this fall and he leads the front seven for Brentwood Academy, but others around him will have to step up in hopes of stopping a dynamic backfield for Baylor. This will be a big game for [player_tooltip player_id='1585726' first='Kenneth' last='Simon'] II as he continues to grow into his body and as a player. After playing safety at his previous school, he seems in more of an outside linebacker/edge role in the early stages of this season and it will be interesting to see how he performs against an offense of the likes that he will be facing.

Baylor tight end [player_tooltip player_id='1201841' first='Braxton' last='Rein'] vs Brentwood Academy safety [player_tooltip player_id='212335' first='Easton' last='Jointer']

[player_tooltip player_id='1201841' first='Braxton' last='Rein'] has the potential to be a weapon in the passing game over the middle of the field with his size and athleticism and this is a game that he might be able to take advantage of that. The Eagles have a strong middle of the field, but it is built on big players that can get downhill and make plays on a ball carrier, which should give a receiving option such as Rein the advantage.

Eagles safety [player_tooltip player_id='212335' first='Easton' last='Jointer'] will most likely be responsible with making sure the middle of the field and part of that will mean taking away the tight end as a safety valve for the Baylor quarterback. This will be an intriguing matchup to watch for both parties involved throughout the course of the game.

Baylor DL [player_tooltip player_id='1210664' first='Jayden' last='Arenas-Michel'] vs Brentwood Academy OT [player_tooltip player_id='1568976' first='Tyi' last='Duncan']

Brentwood Academy has a plethora of high-quality weapons at the disposal of starting quarterback Crews Jenkins and Baylor will have to disrupt his timing and rhythm up front to slow down the potentially electric offense. [player_tooltip player_id='1568976' first='Tyi' last='Duncan'] transferred to Brentwood Academy this offseason and will have to limit Middle Tennessee defensive line commit [player_tooltip player_id='1210664' first='Jayden' last='Arenas-Michel'] from getting pressure consistently on the right side.

Both are big and powerful lineman that do not shy away from physicality and this matchups could be one that sets the tone for one of the teams in the game, at least up front in the trenches.

Brentwood Academy receivers vs Baylor secondary

Brentwood Academy receiver and Oregon commit Kesean Bowman is a stud, but there is a collection of talented receivers complementing him that could take that next step into becoming the next impact perimeter player that the quarterback can count on for a reliable target.

Transfers [player_tooltip player_id='1410131' first='Lexton' last='Baskin'] and Romel Koon Jr join returner [player_tooltip player_id='1118087' first='Eli' last='Ferguson'] in the battle for that second spot, all boasting Division One college football offers. It is time to act on that potential as they face arguably the best secondary they will see for the entire season to figure out who will add that extra element consistently to the offense for a team likely looking to make a deep postseason push.
