5. Rye (Last Week, NR)

Rye is the best team in Section One. The Garnets sit at 2-0 to stat 2025, wins over Somers, and Middletown. Week One against Middletown, Rye won 63-20, against a Middletown team that bounced back in Week Two against Warwick. Somers entered Week Two, with a 45 game win streak over Section One Opponents dating back to 2019. Rye ended the winning streak this past Friday with a 17-7 win over Somers. While Somers is 0-2, and Middletown is 1-1, making their opponents 1-3 this year, the duo of [player_tooltip player_id='1229592' first='Carson' last='Miller'], and [player_tooltip player_id='1529592' first='Henry' last='Shoemaker'] is playing some of the best football in the Section, they easily make the list at #5.

4. Garden City (Last Week, NR)

Garden City has the longest winning streak in the State. The Trojans have won their last 50 games, and multiple Division III titles in the past few years. Garden City has played one game this year, with a matchup against Long Beach. The Trojans came out on top 31-16, against the Marine. While Garden City has played one game this season, the team's last loss came in 2019, which was over six years ago. The fact that the Trojans have continued to win, puts them among the best teams in the state.

3. Archbishop Stepinac (Last Week, NR)

The Crusaders are playing some of the best football in the Catholic League. Through three games in 2025, Archbishop Stepinac sits at 2-1. In their three games this season, the Crusaders have played Central Catholic (MA), Lincoln, and DePaul Catholic (NJ). In an opening game win against Lincoln, the Crusaders won big, with the final score showing 40-14. Archbishop Stepinac followed up with a win at Yankee Stadium over Central Catholic (MA). Week Two brought a different result as DePaul Catholic wwithon 35-0. Lincoln sits at 0-3 on the year, but the three games have been played against quality opponents like Curts, Coatesville, and Archbishop Stepinac. Due to the Crusaders record and the quality of their opponents, they come in at #3.

2. CBA-Syracuse (Last Week, NR)

The Brothers are fresh off a championship, which was won off a last second hail mary. Through two games this season, CBA-Syracuse sits at 2-0. Wins have came against Whitesboro, and CBA-Albany to start the season. Whitesboro, sits at 1-1 on the year and was listed as a top 25 team in the state during the preseason. CBA-Albany sits at 0-2, with losses against quality opponents like CBA-Syracuse and Monsignor Farrell. The opponent win-loss record is 1-3; however all three loses by both teams have came from quality opponents. CBA-Syracuse sits at #2, in the state after two weeks as their wins are solid despite the 1-3 record of their opponents.

Iona Prep is the best team in the state. We were there in Albany, as Iona Prep opened up the season with a huge win over Somers. Entering the game, Somers had won 27 straight games entering the matchup. The Gaels made a statement by laying the boom one the opening kickoff, which set the tone for the game, as Iona Prep ended the inning streak, and moved to 1-0, with a 37-7 win over Somers. In Week Two, Iona Prep won a 58-48 shootout, against Paramus Catholic. Despite Somers being 0-2, and and Paramus Catholic sitting at 1-2, both wins were impressive for the Gaels, which is why they sit as my top team in New York State following Week Two.
