PCA Defeats Franklin County (Game Recap/Top Performers)

<p>To kick off week six of high school football action in Tennessee, I stopped by MTSU's Floyd Stadium in Murfreesboro for a non-district matchup between Franklin County and Providence Christian Academy. Following the matchup, here's my full game recap as well as my top performers.</p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Top Performers</h2>    <p class="text-gray-700">In the first place spot on my list is Braxton Lillis, an athlete at Providence Christian Academy. Lillis made a huge difference on both sides of the ball, recording both a clutch pick-six in the first half as well as a touchdown catch in the second half of the contest. With outstanding size and strength on the run, Lillis is difficult to bring down as he consistently proved on Thursday evening.</p>     <p class="text-gray-700">I was additionally impressed with Zayden Rauner, an athlete at Providence Christian Academy. Rauner was a crucial offensive weapon for the Lions, especially in the first half when PCA trailed early. Rauner hauled in the clutch touchdown pass as the Lions scored on a risky fourth-down play. Rauner's size, speed, and ability to elevate off the ground to haul in the deep pass made a huge difference.</p>     <p class="text-gray-700">Claiming the number three spot on my list is Joshua Meier, a running back at Providence Christian Academy. Meier was unstoppable for the Lions on the ground, punching in not one, but two touchdowns on the evening. Meier's ability to break tackles and absorb contact en route to the backfield made him a difficult offensive weapon to keep in check. Meier also stood out with his ability to use bursts of speed to break through the pocket and find the open field.</p>     <p class="text-gray-700">Another prospect to make his presence known was Monte Johnson, an athlete at Franklin County High School. Johnson was locked in early on in the game, hauling in a beautiful deep pass in the first quarter to put the Rebels on the scoreboard. Johnson's size, speed, and ability to create space between him and the defense were a few aspects of his game that instantly caught my attention. Johnson's versatility in the backfield was also extremely impressive.</p>    <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Game Recap</h2>   <p>Providence Christian Academy would take an early lead over Franklin County, settling for a field goal to get up 3-0. The Rebels wouldn't stay down for long as Monte Johnson hauled in a clutch touchdown pass to give Franklin County the 7-3 lead. The Lions found a way to take back the lead once again as Zayden Rauner hauled in the clutch touchdown pass. Providence Christian Academy held a 10-7 lead over Franklin County. With less than a minute remaining in the first half, Franklin County's offense would be picked off by Braxton Lillis, who took it all the way to the house for the pick-six. The Lions held a 17-7 lead over the Rebels at the half. PCA would continue to roll over the Rebels in the second half as Joshua Meier punched into the house for the touchdown with 8:04 left in the third quarter. The Lions were up 24-7. Providence Christian Academy extended their lead not long after as Lillis hauled in a touchdown pass to give the Lions a 31-7 lead. The Lions would take their foot off the break in the fourth quarter after Meier ran in his second touchdown of the night. PCA held a 38-7 lead with 11:02 remaining in the ball game. The Rebels would find the endzone one more time before the end of the game as Landen Hines ran in a touchdown in the final minutes. Franklin County would complete the two-point conversion. PCA went on to win the game 38-15.</p>
