The best teams in the state of Oregon used to lose to the best teams in Washington.

But that's no longer the case.

In 2022, West Linn thumped Lake Stevens 45-6.

In 2023, Central Catholic defeated Bellevue 24-23.

And while Washington has a bigger population, there's a sense that the state of Oregon is being under-recruited recently.

It also indicates the state might be on the rise.

The new Pac-12 Conference is set to kickoff in the 2026-2027 season, and will feature Oregon State, Washington State, Boise State, Colorado State, Fresno State, San Diego State, Texas State, and Utah State.

Those schools should find success mining talent in the state of Oregon.

While some players, like Lake Oswego running back LaMarcus Bell (2026) and West Linn cornerback [player_tooltip player_id='632957' first='Josiah' last='Molden'] (2027), are already major Power 4 Conference recruits, there are a lot of guys who are FBS-caliber prospects.

Here's a look at class of 2026, 2027 and 2028 Oregon prospects who deserve a serious look, many of whom are worthy of a scholarship:

Class of 2026

Lakeridge DE [player_tooltip player_id='769915' first='Noah' last='Tishendorf'] - Committed to West Virginia

Lakeridge senior [player_tooltip player_id='769915' first='Noah' last='Tishendorf'] has been the 6A leader in sacks back-to-back seasons, and enters his senior campaign with high expectations.

The 6-foot-3, 240-pound edge-rusher already holds 15 offers, but not all of the Pac-12 Conference schools have extended scholarships.

It would be a wise move to try to bring him into the fold.

Beaverton WR [player_tooltip player_id='769925' first='Oliver' last='Luebkert'] - Committed to Eastern Washington

It still surprises me that more teams aren't in on a 6-foot-3, 190-pound dominant player from Beaverton.

Didn't we just do this with current Oregon State star pass-catcher Trent Walker?

Luebkert is perhaps the best wide receiver prospect in the state of Oregon, and his current offer sheet of Eastern Washington and San Diego doesn't do him justice.

He may be a late-offer guy who surges with a big senior campaign.

Lake Oswego QB [player_tooltip player_id='402409' first='Hudson' last='Kurland'] - Committed to Washington State

Lake Oswego senior [player_tooltip player_id='402409' first='Hudson' last='Kurland'] is a talented quarterback who most people's pick for the state's best quarterback prospect.

Don't take my word for it.

Ask legendary Lake Oswego coach Steve Coury.

“He's 6-foot-4, he's got a strong arm, he's very athletic and bright as can be,” he said. “What else do you want?”

Philomath ATH [player_tooltip player_id='914278' first='CD' last='Nuno']

The linebacker/safety/wide receiver is a 6-foot-2, 200-pound athlete with an offer from Boise State.

An all-state track and football athlete - with a 3.9 GPA, he is worth a long look from the Pac-12 programs.

Central Catholic RB [player_tooltip player_id='402415' first='Killian' last='Sombe']

Much has been made about Lake Oswego running back LaMarcus Bell (Utah) and Lakeridge running back [player_tooltip player_id='284119' first='Ansu' last='Sanoe'] (Washington).

But Sombe is right there with them - and doesn't get nearly enough love.

The 5-foot-10, 190-pound ball-carrier has an excellent blend of speed and footwork and may have the highest upside of the “Big 3,” according to some.

He holds offers from Boise State, UNLV, Washington State and others, but the entire future Pac-12 should be reaching out.

Jesuit OL [player_tooltip player_id='770046' first='Quinn' last='Wicklow']

Can I interest you in a 6-foot-7, 260-pound offensive lineman with room to grow?

[player_tooltip player_id='770046' first='Quinn' last='Wicklow'] has Big Sky offers, but is a late-bloomer who deserves a long look from Pac-12 programs.

Jesuit ATH [player_tooltip player_id='770006' first='Joe' last='Stimpson'] - Committed to Nevada

Do-it-all offensive weapon [player_tooltip player_id='770006' first='Joe' last='Stimpson'] is a 5-foot-11, 180-pound playmaker with offers from five different programs.

He's already committed to Nevada, but the “States” might want to give him a long look.

Stimpson has a chance to be a total steal for someone in this class.

Nelson ATH [player_tooltip player_id='1110921' first='Chaz' last='Katoanga']

Nelson beat Lakeridge in a Week 0 in a contest that featured a handful of Division I prospects.

But [player_tooltip player_id='1110921' first='Chaz' last='Katoanga'] still stood out.

The 6-foot-2, 190-pound athlete holds offers from five programs, highlighted by Air Force, but he is yet another Oregon prospect who could pop late.

Tualatin OL [player_tooltip player_id='1110967' first='Connor' last='LaGrow']

[player_tooltip player_id='1110967' first='Connor' last='LaGrow'] is a 6-foot-7, 270-pound offensive lineman with offers from Air Force and Lehigh.

You can't teach size - and LaGrow has it.

With a strong senior campaign he's got a chance to be a late climber.

Mountainside QB [player_tooltip player_id='1232699' first='Cade' last='Mitchell'] - Committed to New Mexico

This summer, [player_tooltip player_id='1232699' first='Cade' last='Mitchell'] won MVP at the Avery Showcase and The Northwest Showcase.

Those camps both featured some talented arms.

The 6-foot-3, 210-pound signal-caller is completing with Lake Oswego's [player_tooltip player_id='402409' first='Hudson' last='Kurland'] for “top 2026 quarterback prospect in Oregon,” so he's worth keeping a close eye on until Signing Day.

Lakeridge OL [player_tooltip player_id='914288' first='Carter' last='Paul'] - Committed to Idaho

[player_tooltip player_id='914288' first='Carter' last='Paul'] is a 6-foot-7, 310-pound offensive lineman with offers from Eastern Washington, Idaho, Portland State and Sacramento State.

Cascade DT [player_tooltip player_id='769923' first='Bryce' last='May']

In need of defensive line help?

Cascade's [player_tooltip player_id='769923' first='Bryce' last='May'] is rising fast late in the process, and it's easy to see why when watching the 6-foot-3, 320-pound lineman on tape.

For teams in need of defensive line help or depth, a 300-plus-pound defensive tackle is an intriguing “free agent” this time of year.

West Linn OL [player_tooltip player_id='769924' first='Kalani' last='Ioapo']

I'll never understand the lack of recruiting attention for [player_tooltip player_id='769924' first='Kalani' last='Ioapo'], who is the leader of the West Linn offensive line.

The 6-foot-3, 290-pound lineman will slide to guard - or even center - at the college level, but he's going to be a steal for someone.

Lakeridge LS [player_tooltip player_id='608187' first='Cash' last='Larsson']

Longsnappers don't get a lot of scholarship money.

But it might be wise to put a package together for [player_tooltip player_id='608187' first='Cash' last='Larsson'], the top longsnapper in the state of Oregon.

Class of 2027

Lake Oswego WR [player_tooltip player_id='936920' first='Jasiah' last='Agnimel']

Wide receiver [player_tooltip player_id='936920' first='Jasiah' last='Agnimel'] is having a breakout campaign at Lake Oswego after moving over from Mountainside.

He's got the size, athleticism and talent to emerge as a Power 4 Conference prospect.

Pac-12 programs would be rise to get in early.

Canby ATH [player_tooltip player_id='1095838' first='Jack' last='Brauckmiller']

[player_tooltip player_id='1095838' first='Jack' last='Brauckmiller'] is a stellar baseball player, but the 6-foot-6, 210-pound athlete has been other-worldly when healthy for Canby.

He holds an early offer from UNLV, but his ceiling is as high as any player on this list if he can remain healthy.

Willamette LB [player_tooltip player_id='791149' first='Kawai' last='Chamberlin']

A tone-setting, physical linebacker with offers from Boise State, Nevada, Sacramento State and Washington State, Chamberlin is an automatic offer for nearly all Pac-12 Conference programs in my opinion.

He might be the state's best linebacker in the 2027 class, and at 6-foot-3, 217 pounds, his talent should translate to the college level.

Lake Oswego DE [player_tooltip player_id='1246545' first='Josh' last='Christensen']

[player_tooltip player_id='1246545' first='Josh' last='Christensen'], a 6-foot-6, 235-pound edge-rusher, attended an absolutely-loaded Session 2 of The Northwest Showcase this summer.

He walked away not as the DL MVP, but the overall MVP.

It was a game-changer.

He has carried that over to the field this fall, and looks the part of a potential big-time recruit.

The time is now for Pac-12 Conference teams to get a head start in his recruitment.

Central Catholic TE [player_tooltip player_id='1187089' first='Seager' last='Milholen']

The ship may have already sailed when it comes to the Pac-12 Conference having a shot at [player_tooltip player_id='1187089' first='Seager' last='Milholen'], who has offers from Arizona, California, Washington State and others.

Still it's surprising not to see the entire Pac-12 on this list.

He's in fertile Pac-12 recruiting ground, comes from a power program and is the No. 2 player in the state, according to 247Sports.

Nelson ATH [player_tooltip player_id='937176' first='Malachi' last='Garlington']

[player_tooltip player_id='937176' first='Malachi' last='Garlington'] was already a player to watch after a strong camp showing.

But he burst onto the scene in Week 0 against Lakeridge.

He hauled in four receptions for 176 yards and two touchdowns.

Garlington is a 6-foot-3, 180-pound pass-catcher with upside.

Central Catholic OL [player_tooltip player_id='936855' first='Nate' last='Peau']

The next Central Catholic offensive line recruit?

[player_tooltip player_id='936855' first='Nate' last='Peau'] is a 6-foot-3, 310-pound interior lineman who is already making waves.

While he may not be an “offer now” guy, he is definitely a player to watch.

Tualatin ATH [player_tooltip player_id='937241' first='Cole' last='Hachmeister']

The 5-foot-9, 170-pound super speedster isn't going to be for everyone because of his size, but his dynamic play with the ball in his hands will be a commodity some schools really covet.

Hachmeister averaged 8.8 yards per carry as a sophomore and had 130 yards and two touchdowns on just five touches in the season opener against Clackamas this fall.

Class of 2028

Central Catholic DL [player_tooltip player_id='1654734' first='PJ' last='Tautu']

[player_tooltip player_id='1654734' first='PJ' last='Tautu'] is a 6-foot-4, 245-pound defensive lineman who already holds offers from Oregon State and Portland State.

He could very well develop into a national recruit.

But the Beavers have started the ball rolling and the rest of the Pac should follow suit.

Willamette QB [player_tooltip player_id='904208' first='Zeke' last='Thomas']

The state of Oregon's top quarterback in the 2028 class was lights out as a freshman.

He threw for 2,503 yards and 28 touchdowns with just four interceptions, while also rushing for 203 yards and two scores.

Summit OL [player_tooltip player_id='1609771' first='Peter' last='Stanley']

Another player who could absolutely blow up before his senior season, [player_tooltip player_id='1609771' first='Peter' last='Stanley'] has an early ACC offer from Cal - and more could very soon be on the way.

The 6-foot-4, 280-pound lineman is probably the top prospect in the Bend area in the 2028 class, a region that has produced plenty of big-time prospects in recent years, including Luke Musgrave (2019).

Lake Oswego ATH [player_tooltip player_id='1613644' first='Presley' last='DeLance']

It's still really early in the process for [player_tooltip player_id='1613644' first='Presley' last='DeLance'], who needs to continue to develop and do all the little things to maximize his potential.

But he's in the right place with Steve Coury's excellent staff.

The 6-foot-4, 220-pound athlete has legit track speed at his size and has growth flashes of immense potential.

Get in now and build the relationship early?

Tualatin ATH [player_tooltip player_id='1609595' first='Iden' last='Rule']

A two-way standout at Tualatin, [player_tooltip player_id='1609595' first='Iden' last='Rule'] is quickly rising up my rankings.

The 5-foot-11, 180-pound playmaker may just develop into a two-way all-state-caliber player.

I'd invite him on campus now and build the relationship.

He could develop into a program tone-setter.

The best teams in the state of Oregon used to lose to the best teams in Washington.
