Prep Redzone Exposure Series: MVPs and standouts

Lakeridge High School and coach Spencer Phillips played host to the Prep Redzone Exposure Series Oregon camp Sunday, and delivered an event that showcased some of the top talent in the state - and beyond.   The quarterback group, <a href="https://prepredzone.com/2026/05/prep-redzone-exposure-series-quarterbacks/" id="https://prepredzone.com/2026/05/prep-redzone-exposure-series-quarterbacks/">which earned its own article</a>, featured several of the top passers in the entire state, which forced a multi-quarterback "throw off" for the MVP award.   The rest of the camp delivered as well - with everything from big-play young running backs to late bloomers to a few guys who just needed a little exposure to prove they are college-bound.   Here's a look at the position MVPs and standouts:   MVP: [player_tooltip player_id='1563740' first='Mason' last='Girt'], Lakeridge (2029) — There's significant buzz growing for Lakeridge's 2029 class, a group that also features [player_tooltip player_id='1855541' first='Malakai' last='Belz'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1509111' first='Jagger' last='Salazar'].   But Girt was the standout Sunday.   Lightning-quick with solid route-running skills and good hands, Girt looks like he could be a star sooner rather than later.   The 5-foot-8, 160-pound ball-carrier should be a sub-11 100 guy before his career comes to an end, and he'll have some all-TRL honors on the football field to go with it if he continues to make the strides we are seeing from him.   Grit is an easy kid to like and it's always fun to watch him compete.   He's hungry to get better.    Stanouts:   [player_tooltip player_id='2214205' first='Xeem' last='Vue'], Union (2029) — The 5-foot-10, 175-pound athlete was a walk-up athlete, so we didn't know what to expect.   But he immediately popped as one of the top backs on the day.   Vue made big play after big play in the RB-LB passing drill and put himself firmly on the map for me as a player to watch this fall.   If his performance in pads matches his Sunday showing, Union has a good one on its hands.    [player_tooltip player_id='1558034' first='Zane' last='Zellick'], West Linn (2029) — Zellick had a solid day, and it's a surprise to see him and realize he's still only a freshman.   I can't imagine what he'll look like by his senior year.   The muscular 6-foot, 180-pound youngster has a chance to develop into one of the state's best players, and he's already showing flashes of that potential.    [player_tooltip player_id='2042096' first='Mylez' last='Welch'], Bothell (2028) — Welch had a great day testing.   He posted an 8-11 broad jump, a 6.95 L-drill and a camp-best 4.19 shuttle.   All three marks made him a top-three guy for the entire camp.   Wide receiver   MVP: [player_tooltip player_id='2206319' first='Frank' last='“Rocco” Folino'], Thurston (2029) — Rocco made several spectacular catches on the day and was largely uncoverable in 1-on-1s.   I honestly didn't know a ton about him coming in, but I'll be keeping a close eye on him going forward.   The 5-foot-10, 180-pound pass-catcher was among the very few players who were in the mix for “best performance of the day.”    For that to come from a 2029 prospect was really impressive.    Folino is a baller!    Standout:   TE [player_tooltip player_id='2054681' first='Oliver' last='Holverson'], Jesuit (2027) — A 6-foot-5, 230-pound tight end who moves well through testing?   Yup, that'll play.   Holverson is a potential match-up nightmare who is hearing from Division I programs, but doesn't yet have an offer.    The two-way first-team all-league National Honor Society playmaker could be a steal for the college that offers first and hangs on.    He looked like a not-so-hidden gem Sunday.    WR Jack Fluker, Parkrose (2027) — I'm a firm believer that attitude and effort in camps deserve to be rewarded.   While I was taking pictures as the photographer early in camp set-up, Fluker went out of his way to shake hands with me (and others), looking everyone in the eye and asking how they were doing, stopping for a brief conversation.   It felt very genuine.    During camp intros, Lakeridge head coach Spencer Phillips pointed out that “Parkrose” was especially professional going through weigh-ins and made a point to meet everyone he saw.   I had noticed too, and initially wasn't going to say anything.   Before the camp even began, Fluker had made a big first impression on multiple people.    He conducted himself exactly how a camper should, and was immediately noticed — in the best way — by the two people running the camp before it even began.    Linemen    OL MVP: [player_tooltip player_id='2131782' first='Cooper' last='Chan'], Jesuit (2029) — Carrying on the Jesuit “Franchise” tradition, Chan looks like he could be the next Jesuit lineman to make a splash in the Metro League.   DL MVP: [player_tooltip player_id='2208680' first='Jerry' last='Ha'], River Ridge  (2027) — A guard as a sophomore and injured as a junior, Ha is a major unknown to most college programs.   But the (legit) 6-foot-1, 270-pound defensive lineman showed good ability in drills and was the top lineman on either side of the ball Sunday.   He'll need to go to some showcase events so college coaches can actually see him, but he very well could have a. Small college future with the way he impressed multiple coaches Sunday.    Linebacker   MVP: [player_tooltip player_id='1368351' first='Cohen' last='Draper'], Ridgefield (2027) — The physically-impressive 6-foot-1, 200-pound ‘backer had a solid day - both in testing and in coverage.   He picked up his first offer from Southern Virginia earlier this month and looks like he could add to it.   Some of the technique still needs to be refined in coverage, but he was coachable, imposing and stood out in a solid group.   Draper also delivered the top broad jump of the day (9-4), highlighting his athleticism.    Standouts   [player_tooltip player_id='1612569' first='Lincoln' last='Lutu'], Beaverton (2028) — The 6-foot-1, 210-pound ‘backer seemed to improve throughout the camp - even as his size may indicate he's more of a downhill, put-the-pads-on-and-hit-somebody linebacker.   Tackle-machine Max Baker graduates, leaving a big spot open for the Beaverton defense.   Could Lutu take the role and be a 100-tackle guy this fall?   It certainly looks possible.    He's got "all-league performer” written all over him.   [player_tooltip player_id='1968662' first='Marcus' last='McCauley'], Parkrose (2027) — A rare, but athletic linebacker, McCauley broke up a ton of passes in one-on-ones - even if he was eager to try to jump every route.    The 6-foot-2, 180-pound' backer looks and moves like a defensive back and has extremely long arms, which allowed him to lead the camp in pass break-ups (unofficial).    He'll need some refinement, but he had a solid day in coverage.    Defensive backs   Overall Defensive MVP: [player_tooltip player_id='937115' first='Jaxon' last='Lee'], Tigard (2027) — The 6-foot-3, 200-pound athlete was the overall defensive MVP of the day.   Lee ran a 4.66 laser-timed 40 - on a day in which the times ticked slower than several camps - to get things started.   Then he moved well in drills and made several big plays in coverage.   Tigard faced some challenges last year, but has a new coach and a new system.   We should see Lee flourish this fall, and his recruitment should start to gain momentum after a stellar camp showing.    DB MVP: [player_tooltip player_id='2055759' first='Cameron' last='Jorgensen'], Century (2027) — The 6-foot, 160-pound two-way player ran a 6.82 L-drill, more than 0.1 faster than any other player in the camp. To put that into perspective, 0.05 seconds separated 3rd through 5th and there was another big group right behind them.   He was blazing through.    Jorgensen was sticky in coverage following test and quickly drew a “that kid” when asking coaches who stood out Sunday.    Standouts:   Sebastian Molyneux, Lakeridge (2027) — Molyneux drew high praise from the college coaches for his coach-ability and willingness to pass that information on to others.   In a camp setting, where it can so often feel like a fight to separate yourself from the pack, he went out of his way repeatedly to help his “teammates” on the day.   It's one thing for one coach to notice it, but when 2-3 all point to the same kid and say his effort and attitude stand out that's pretty impressive.   [player_tooltip player_id='2131778' first='Hudson' last='Brooks'], Lakeridge (2029) — Another member of Lakeridge's quality 2029 core, Brooks made a nice couple of plays in one-on-ones, something really positive to build upon against quality competition Sunday.
