1st Quarter

With the sun setting in the background, and a view overlooking the Hudson River, the Headless Horsemen took the field led by one of the coolest mascots in High School Football. A battle was about to start, between two of the top teams in Section One, Bronxville, and Sleepy Hollow. Sleepy Hollow won the coin toss, and elected to receive to kick off the game. Bronxville, pounded the rock on their first drive, having methodical run plays go for chunk yards. With seven minutes remaining in the first, the Broncos punched it in for the first score of the game. Thomas Freeman scored first. The extra point was blocked leaving the score 6-0 with 6:58 left In the first. Unlike Bronxville, the Horsemen offense went to work quickly with long rushes by [player_tooltip player_id='402254' first='Brayden' last='Richardson']. After reaching the red zone, Sleepy Hollow's QB found [player_tooltip player_id='1804198' first='Gilbert' last='Onwe'] in the end zone for a touchdown. The Horsemen went for two, and failed leaving the score 6-6 with 3:50 to play in the first. Bronxville continued their ground dominance, with two first downs on the ground before the end of the Quarter. After One, the score read 6-6.

2nd Quarter

The start of the quarter saw Bronxville continuing to pound the rock through the Sleepy Hollow defense. A few stops, short runs, and a couple penalties, controlled the early part of the quarter. After a good first down run by Bronxville, the Broncos reached the Redzone where they handed it off to Brian Formato to put them up 12-6. The Broncos went for two and converted on the ground, making the score 14-6 three minutes into the second quarter. After a nice return, [player_tooltip player_id='402254' first='Brayden' last='Richardson'] exploded for a huge rush. Two consecutive short runs, were followed by a drop, leading to the first punt of the game midway through the second quarter. Bronxville went three an out, as the Sleepy Hollow defense, made a key stop to keep the game within a score. Sleepy Hollow, got the ball back and made it towards mid field, after a few gains, the fourth down pass by Bowen, was stopped with eight seconds left, leading to a turnover. Bronxville kneeled the ball out, leading to a 14-6 Halftime Score.

3rd Quarter

Sleepy Hollow started the half receiving the kickoff down 14-6. The offense got going for the Horsemen, as they started out with a few solid plays moving the ball towards the Bronxville side. On 2nd down, the Horsemen tried a pitch play, which failed as the pitch was inaccurate leading to a fumble picked up by the Broncos with 8:01 to play in the third quarter. Bronxville continued pounding the rock following the fumble, as they started with excellent field position. A few minutes later, after continuing to run the ball, Brian Formato found the endzone for his second score of the game, extending the Bronxville lead to 20-6 midway through the third quarter. Sleepy Hollow got the ball back following the score, and were forced to punt, after the first 3-out of the game. Bronxville responded, with a 3-out as well, punting the ball back. [player_tooltip player_id='402254' first='Brayden' last='Richardson'] returned the punt, weaving in and out of defenders, all the way to the end zone, to bring the score to 20-13 with a few minutes left in the third quarter. Bronxville kept the ball the remainder of the quarter, with multiple chunk runs by Brian Formato to end the third. After three we had a close game in Sleepy Hollow, with the Broncos leading 20-13.

4th Quarter

Bronxville started the final quarter on the Sleepy Hollow side of the field, with a key third down approaching. Out of field goal range, Bronxville dropped back and completed a huge throw and catch, bringing them inside the Redzone. The Broncos stuck with the run game on first down, and punched in their third rush TD of the game to Brian Formato to make the score 28-13, a minute into the final quarter. The Horsemen got the ball back and picked up a quick first down, but were forced to punt a few plays later, and only took two minutes off the clock. Sleepy Hollow caught its first break, as they forced a fumble a few minutes later, giving them a chance late in the game. Deep in their own territory, they got to fourth down and tried a throw, that fell incomplete, giving the ball back to Bronxville. The Broncos, took one play to score, as Brian Formato added to the lead, making it 35-13, with 5:21 to play. The Horsemen got the ball back and started to gain momentum, when the Bronxville defense stopped them and forced a punt with under three minutes remaining. Bronxville ran the clock out, and forced a final score of 35-13.

Sleepy Hollow Recruiting Roundup

[player_tooltip player_id='1804198' first='Gilbert' last='Onwe']: Onwe had one of the two touchdowns scored by Sleepy Hollow in this game. His skills, as a pass catcher, blocker, and route runner were on display throughout the game, where he impressed me with his consistency throughout the game.

[player_tooltip player_id='402254' first='Brayden' last='Richardson']: Richardson had a massive punt return in the third quarter, to bring the game within a score. His elusiveness, toughness and tackle shedding impressed me the most throughout the game as he broke free for multiple big runs, and excelled in the YAC category.

Bronxville Recruiting Roundup

Brian Formato: The Senior RB, was put on my radar after this game. He had four touchdowns, and ran all over the Sleepy Hollow defense. He had multiple broken tackles, and physical runs throughout the game, helping the Broncos pick up a huge win.

[player_tooltip player_id='1260105' first='Walker' last='Moore']: Moore was quiet in the receiving aspect of the game; however he impressed me with his blocking. While Blocking, and creating holes won't go into a stat sheet, it is huge skill to have for a TE, and Walker showcased his good blocking all game.
