On the first Friday of the Kansas Prep Football season, I traveled a few miles north to scout the United Kansas League opener for the Piper Pirates and Seaman Vikings.

Here is a look at five defensive players who stood out for the Vikings.

[player_tooltip player_id='586962' first='Cameron' last='Brian'], LB, 6'0”, 200, Seaman, ‘26

Brian is the rock in the Vikings' defense, and he played like it against Piper. He had multiple tackles in the contest and can shut down the run game and the middle of the field. He moves well laterally and can get downhill like a fat boy chasing down a pan of biscuits. He is one of the Seaman's Captains and got to the quarterback for a half a sack in the first half of the game. Brian is ranked No. 124 overall in the Kansas Class of 2026. He has an offer from Dordt University in his pocket and interest from other schools like Hastings College.

[player_tooltip player_id='1274111' first='Ben' last='Trier'], LB, 6'2”, 215, Seaman, ‘26

Trie also had a solid game for the Vikings. He is ranked No. 382 overall by Prep Redzone Kansas. He is more of a pass-rusher than Brian. He can help set the edge for a defense or flat-out chase down ball carriers with speed. What I was really impressed with was the poise he showed. The Vikings' defense made multiple personal foul penalties, but Trier helped the Vikings steady the rudder.

[player_tooltip player_id='1274119' first='Hayden' last='Foxhoven'], DB, 5'11”, 175, Seaman, ‘26

Foxhoven is a defensive back who is really fast. He is returning from a season-ending injury last year. He is ranked No. 387 overall in the Kansas Class of 2026. He made two touchdown-saving tackles for the Vikings. He can play free or strong safety. I could also see a college recruiting him to put on some size and serve as a hybrid linebacker.

[player_tooltip player_id='1275247' first='Alex' last='Huston'], LB, 6'3”, 200, Seaman, ‘27

Another linebacker who stood out was Huston. It's a familiar name as his older brother Max, played quarterback for the Vikings last season. He is a Freight Train, and ball carriers won't want to be on the tracks with him rolling downhill. Huston is ranked No. 127 overall by Prep Redzone Kansas. He was in on multiple tackles during the season opener.

Bodie Alexander, DL, 6'1”, 255, Seaman, ‘27

An unranked athlete whose game I enjoyed was Seaman's Alexander. He is a space-eating tackle who can free up Seaman's linebackers to make big plays. He has a solid combination of size and quickness. He is an athlete I could see a college hunting down with the intent to redshirt him to add some bulk. He can cause problems with his quickness for offensive linemen.
