Game Notes: Red Raiders Can Bring The Boom

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The Wamego Red Raiders are a team that I have been following regularly the past three seasons.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>They have a dangerous defense and one of the top quarterback prospects in the Kansas Class of 2027.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>I scouted their Northeast Kansas showdown against non-league opponent Hayden.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Here is a look at four prospects I was impressed by during the Week Four contest.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1330998' first='Joshua' last='Flanigan Jr'],</strong> OL/DL, 6'2”, 250, Wamego, ‘26</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>On the defensive side of the ball, the athlete with the biggest ceiling for me is Flanigan. He is a dangerous edge rusher who is multi-dimensional. He doesn't just like to rush the passer; in fact, he really doesn't care who he hits. He is effective against the run and plays next to a defensive tackle, who I was also impressed by. He is quick and long. I think he can be even more dangerous by improving his upper-body strength. He is ranked No. 288 overall in the Kansas Class of 2026 rankings. I would recommend him to all of the JUCO coaches who follow me. Some seasoning with a Jayhawk Conference program could lead to Division I or Division II offers down the road.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1113129' first='Logan' last='Fulton'],</strong> QB, 6'0”, 200, Wamego, ‘27</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Fulton has ball skills. He is a little undersized, but so were Baker Mayfield and Doug Flutie. This kid can throw a tight spiral and throw it deep. He is ranked No. 16 overall by Prep Redzone Kansas and is the No. 1-ranked quarterback in his class. I don't feel like I saw his best performance Friday night, but I still liked what I saw. He has a quick release and plays with composure in the pocket. He also understands when to eat the ball and not make silly turnovers.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1464032' first='Mason' last='Isch'],</strong> LB, 6'1”, 170, Wamego, ‘27</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Isch was a player being looked at by some of the college coaches in attendance. He is ranked No. 107 in the Kansas Class of 2027. He is a fast-flow linebacker who can stuff the run. He made a couple of touchdown-saving tackles in the red zone. He moves well laterally and beats blockers with his quickness and strength.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Jace Little,</strong> DL, 5'10”, 225, Wamego, ‘26</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>An unranked senior I liked for Wamego was Little. He plays defensive tackle and just looks like a football player. He stays low to the ground and does a good job of not standing up out of his stance. He is strong and paired well on the left side of the defense with Flanigan. He is difficult to move and can force the offensive line to double-team him, which frees up Wamego's talented linebackers. I think he could add quality depth to NAIA or JUCO programs.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
