Five 2028 ATH To Keep An Eye On

After nearly two weeks of doing my 2028 player series, we're at the end with my athletes to keep an eye on. I've chosen five to look at. They're all different in their own ways, but are impact players who have Division I potential, with a few being Power Four prospects.   [player_tooltip player_id='1028041' first='Jeramy' last='Laster'] from Beech is the clear No. 1 ATH in the state with his abilities as a wide receiver. He's electric, but not the only one on this list. I made sure to add two more impressive skill players   I've also included a pair of trench guys to give my boys up front some love. Let's check it out.    Laster is one of the most intriguing 2028 in-state prospects. He plays both ways but projects more as a wide receiver even with his compact build. The Beech ATH stands around 6-foot-0, but plays like a bigger receiver with the ability to do it all.   He's excellent at high-pointing the football and making contested catches while showcasing good route running, athleticism and burst. Beech also uses him as a gadget guy with sweeps, screens, lining up in the slot and on the boundary.     [player_tooltip player_id='1093180' first='Jiles' last='Bryant'] from Houston High School is one of the top athletes in the state at defensive line and tight end, but is a better fit on the defensive front. Bryant is built well at 6-foot-3, 230 pounds with a good mix of athleticism and strength.   He's versatile and can play anywhere on the D-line, being effective at end and tackle. The 2028 is quick off the ball, shows solid instincts/awareness, good rush moves and a high motor.     Sophomore athlete [player_tooltip player_id='1704680' first='Jackson' last='Walters'] can play well at all positions due to his size and physicality, but projects best as a tight end. He has that nice mix of receiving upside with blocking skills to be one of the more balanced tight ends in the state.   Walters is a solid receiver with nice footwork, strong hands, the ability to turn upfield to pick up more yardage and an underrated amount of twitch. However, his best skills are in the trenches. The 2028 TE is an excellent blocker, especially when leading the way with aggression, nice hand placement and solid pad level.     [player_tooltip player_id='1030583' first='Brycen' last='Mitchell'] from Blackman is a good athlete who should be on everybody's radar. He plays both ways, but is likely a better wide receiver than defensive back. His stats won't wow you because he plays in a run-heavy offense and has to share receptions with 2027 [player_tooltip player_id='1103038' first='Brylan' last='Oduor'].   However, turn on the tape, and you can see the potential. He's a good deep threat who uses his excellent route running to create consistent separation. Mitchell can also hurt you on short and intermediate routes with his strong hands, nice twitch, slipperiness, and willingness to take hits from DBs.     [player_tooltip player_id='1704649' first='Jayden' last='Lanier'] is going under the radar, but when you turn on the tape, you see someone who always seems to make plays on the gridiron. He plays both ways, but caught my eye as a defensive back. Lanier has a solid frame with space to put on good weight and maintain his athleticism and elusiveness.   He's not some athletic freak, but the 2028 ATH is scrappy with a high motor. Lanier is a good coverage corner who also shows ball-hawking skills and the ability to make something happen after his interceptions. My favorite part of Lanier's game is his willingness to make tackles and attack players head-on without fear of contact.
