BENTONVILLE, AR. 28, UNION 14

Union opened their 2025 campaign at home against Bentonville and it was the first game for Antonio Graham as Union's head coach. Unfortunately, it was about as messy as it gets as Union finished the night with 15 penalties and the shots in the foot continued to halt progress on the offensive side of the ball. Bentonville made the trip over from northwest Arkansas and knocked off the Redhawks. Union will host Stillwater next week in a rematch of last year's overtime win for the Pioneers.

BISHOP McGUINNESS 17, DEER CREEK 14

Bishop McGuinness kicked off their season with a close 17-14 road win over a 6A-1 top ten-ranked team in Deer Creek. The Irish led but the Antlers tied it up at 14. McGuinness responded by driving down and kicking a field goal halfway through the fourth quarter and that ended up being the game-winner. But it was the defense that made sure they got the victory. The Antlers threatened twice in the final minutes, getting the ball into Deer Creek territory and both times, the Irish got stops.

BIXBY 49, OWASSO 21

It was #1 Bixby & #2 Owasso in a rematch of last year's state championship classic. It had all the makings of a major heavyweight fight but it ended up being a first round knockout. Bixby jumped out early and often on the Rams and would run away with a 49-21 victory. Behind a balanced offensive attack and a relentless defense, the Spartans would start out their season 1-0 and sent quite the message to the rest of Class 6A-1 that the champs don't plan on going anywhere.

BOOKER T WASHINGTON 21, MUSKOGEE 14

In a match-up where both schools had new head coaches, it was the home team getting the win as Booker T Washington prevailed 21-14 over Muskogee. The Hornets were absolutely dominant on defense for the majority of this game and they also had some big plays early on that put Muskogee in a hole they couldn't climb out of. The Hornets overcame losing some key pieces, specifically on offense to beat Muskogee, showing they are a serious threat in Class 5A.

BROKEN ARROW 35, SPRINGDALE HAR-BER, AR. 14

Broken Arrow went over to northwest Arkansas and began the Travis Hill era with a 35-14 victory over Springdale Har-Ber. The Tigers shut out the Wildcats in the first half, jumping out to a 14-0 lead at halftime. The Tigers were incredibly explosive on the offensive side of the ball. The Tigers have high expectations and they are living up to the preseason hype early on. They face another northwest Arkansas opponent next week when they welcome in Fayetteville in week one.

BROKEN BOW 23, McALESTER 20

Broken Bow snapped a losing streak to McAlester by beating the Buffaloes 23-20. The Savages came into this season with high expectations as they brought back the majority of their starters, headlined by arguably the most electric player in the state. The Savages could end up being one of the top teams in Class 4A this season, despite missing out on the postseason last year. For McAlester, the Jeff Craig era begins with a tough loss in week zero and now they have to bounce back.

CUSHING 24, BERRYHILL 23 (3OT)

We can't find another game that went to three overtimes in week zero. Cushing and Berryhill get that award as Cushing got a stop a two-point conversion in the third overtime to get the 24-23 victory. In that third overtime, Cushing scored first and elected to kick the extra point. Berryhill scored and went for the win but they were stopped on the goal line. Cushing never led in regulation but they tied it up in the fourth quarter to send it to the overtimes in this close and back and forth game.

EDMOND MEMORIAL 35, DEL CITY 0

We have to admit when we're wrong and boy were we wrong. On our week zero preview show, we mentioned how Edmond Memorial beat Del City 35-0 last season but thought this year's match-up would be closer. Nope. For the second straight year, the Bulldogs beat the Eagles 35-0 as the Edmond Memorial defense backed up all the preseason hype. They were relentless and forced multiple turnovers in the win. They played outstanding from start to finish.

ELGIN 42, LAWTON MACARTHUR 21

Defending 4A champion Elgin dominated Lawton MacArthur on the ground in the season opener for the second straight season, rolling to a 42-21 victory. This game was relatively competitive but eventually, the dam broke and the Owls captured their 15th consecutive victory. Five rushing touchdowns for their star running back was the main story. We will also have highlights of Friday's game on our YouTube channel. You can check them out right here when they get posted!

FAIRVIEW 56, ALVA 0

We mentioned earlier in this breakdown how we'll admit when we're wrong and once again, boy were we wrong once again. Fairview lost a truly special senior class, including the best quarterback in school history. However, they made quite the statement that they aren't going anywhere in Class A-1 as they blasted Alva 56-0 on Friday night. We thought they might take a step back this season but if week zero was any indication, the Yellowjackets will remain in the mix.

HOLLAND HALL 27, CASCIA HALL 6

The last three "Hall Brawls" between Cascia Hall and Holland Hall have been decided by a combined ten points and Cascia had won all three. The Dutch snapped that streak and this one didn't come down to the wire. Holland Hall beat the Commandos 27-6. Cascia came into this season with one of the top passing attacks in Class 3A. The Dutch didn't get that message as they finished the night with multiple interceptions and they kept putting points up on the board to get the big 3A win.

JENKS 51, EDMOND SANTA FE 7

The Adam Gaylor era at Jenks officially began on Friday night as the Trojans rolled to a 51-7 victory over Edmond Santa Fe. The Trojans were led by a dominant defense and a rushing attack that could not be slowed down. The only thing that held Jenks back early on in the game was penalties. As the Trojans clean that up, specifically on the offensive line, they are going to be in a good position moving forward. They now shift their focus to a week one showdown against Owasso.

PRYOR 45, SALLISAW 22

It was a special night for Pryor football as they opened their new stadium and got a big 45-22 win over Sallisaw in a match-up of top five teams in 5A and 4A respectively. The Tigers gave the home fans some fireworks immediately by taking the opening kick off back for a score. From there, both teams played back and forth football in the first half, exchanging scores. Sallisaw led 22-16 but it was all Pryor after that. The Tigers were absolutely dominant in the second half.

TUTTLE 38, GUTHRIE 13

In a match-up of last year's 5A runner up and 4A runner up, the 4A runner up Tuttle was dominant in a 38-13 win over Guthrie. Last season, Guthrie and Tuttle were tied at 24 until the final minute when the Tigers stunned the Blue Jays on the road. This season, there would be no need for late game heroics as the Tigers took care of business from the start. Tuttle had multiple players standing out on the offensive side of the ball as they rolled to a massive week zero victory.

WASHINGTON 35, COMMUNITY CHRISTIAN 6

The three-time defending state champion Washington Warriors opened their season with a 35-6 victory over Community Christian. Coming into the season opener, the storyline wasn't necessarily whether or not the Warriors would win this opener. It was the winning streak that continues to be in tact. The Warriors have now won 45 consecutive games following the win over the Royals. The Warriors will put that streak on the line next week with a road game against Sulphur.
