With the departure of Tri-Center and [player_tooltip player_id='1621125' first='AJ' last='Harder'] to Class 1A, [player_tooltip player_id='1221942' first='Beau' last='Burns'] is the top passer back in Class A this fall. Playing in 8-man last season, Burns completed 134-of-193 passes (67.3%) for 2,391 yards, 34 touchdowns and just six interceptions. One of the more efficient passers in 8-man, it will be interesting to see how his game translates to playing 11-on-11 ball.

If there was a year for Burns and the Bears to move up levels, it'd be this season. Entering his third-straight year as a starter with 69-to-13 touchdown to interception ratio -- not to mention 2,930 yards and 46 touchdowns rushing -- Burns is as about as experienced and ready as they come to take a leap up in competition.

The top returning QB that also played in Class A last fall, [player_tooltip player_id='1242831' first='Brady' last='Wall'] of Maquoketa Valley threw for 1,893 yards and 17 touchdowns to lead the one of the top offenses in the state. A dual-threat gunslinger for the Wildcats, Wall's passing numbers were complimented by 434 yards rushing and 11 touchdowns on the ground in 2024.

Though he can run it, Wall can also withstand pressure, and deliver the ball deep with touch for long ball touchdowns. Last season, he clearly built chemistry and timing with his wideouts.

The first of three junior northwest Iowa quarterbacks, [player_tooltip player_id='1621129' first='Jackson' last='Verschoor'] returns after passing for 1,821 yards, along with 17 touchdowns and six picks. The No. 10 quarterback in the class of 2027, Verschoor has an all-arm throwing motion, but can still hit deep passes on time and on target. He also shows a willingness to trust his receivers to up and catch passes when they have a physical advantage in man-to-man coverage.

Under center once again for Logan-Magnolia this fall, [player_tooltip player_id='1359967' first='Ashton' last='Peszulik'] completed 110 passes for 1,632 yards, 20 touchdowns and seven picks last season. With the most touchdowns of the four QBs that played 11-on-11 last year, Peszulik will look to replicate, if not surpass those numbers this fall.

Slight of frame, it takes quite the throwing motion for Peszulik to throw the ball much further than 30-35 yards, but the amount of yards and TDs he passed for makes a ton of sense when one sees the ball-placement of his deep passes. Peszulik is good at putting the ball where only his receiver can go get it.

Though his stats don't necessarily bear it out, Peszulik looks fleet-of-foot on film, too. Leading his team in rushing on 92 carries for 259 yards and a touchdown, Peszulik has quick feet that allow him to maneuver the pocket and escape pressure.

The most efficient QB of the group, Eli Harpenau completed 91-of-129 passes last season (70.3%) for 1,268 yards, 11 touchdowns and four picks.

Similar to Verschoor, Harpenau's throwing motion is all arm. With his 6'1" and 205-pounds stature, he could use his size to really rip the ball, but it works for now. Despite the unique throwing motion, the junior can really get some air under the ball, effectively throwing his receivers open at times.

Harpenau has the best physical makeup of the group, and he uses it to his advantage on the ground, specifically. His team's second-leading rusher last season, he took 66 carries for 397 yards and three scores last fall.
