Returning as the top rusher in 2A, [player_tooltip player_id='1242944' first='Hudson' last='Ehrenfelt'] took 242 carries for 1,365 yards and 26 touchdowns last season for Mid-Prairie. His district's MVP in 2024, Ehrenfelt is a speedster that's difficult to catch in the open field. If he finds a hole or a crease in the defense and hits it, his foot speed allows him to outrace the defense to the endzone. He can make a quick cut and create a lane of his own as well, surging through it for a big gain.

A junior returning in the backfield for Kuemper Catholic, [player_tooltip player_id='1621099' first='Jarin' last='Hoffman'] may be part of one of the most balanced offensive attacks in the entire state this fall, as starting QB [player_tooltip player_id='1242935' first='Brock' last='Badding'] is also back as 2A's leading passer from last season.

In 2024, Hoffman took 228 carries for 1,294 yards and 17 touchdowns, taking the load off of Badding and the passing attack. If Badding can reciprocate this fall and increase his completion percentage, the Knights may be en route to the UNI-Dome. Hoffman is a patient runner that allows his offensive line to create openings for him, and then he surges through them for big plays.

The first quarterback of the bunch, Cason Young of Davis County took 167 carries for 1,155 yards (6.9 yards per carry) and ten scores for the Mustangs. In a run-heavy scheme, Young served as the primary call-carrier and passer for Davis County, often taking the snap and then scampering for big gains on behalf of the offense. Slight of frame, Young could add more to his running capabilities with added weight, but, for now, he uses his speed to fly past defenders.

Another junior, Michelet Sedam is back after leading Central Lyon/George-Little Rock in rushing last year as a sophomore. One of the latest talented football prospects from one of the top programs in northwest Iowa, Michelet Sedam took 181 carries for 974 yards and 11 scores last season. At 5'9" and 190-pounds, Sedam has the look of a shifty, speedy third-down back, but he can break tackles and outrace the defense for big plays, too. If there's anyone on this list that has the look of a Division I running back -- whether it be FCS, Group of 5 or Power 4 -- it's Sedam.

Back for Woodward-Granger as they make the move from 1A to 2A this fall, [player_tooltip player_id='1242840' first='Talan' last='Fuson'] led the attack through the air and on the ground for the Hawks last fall. Nearly in rarified air in 2024, Fuson was almost part of the small group of players that ran and passed for over 1,000 yards. All-in-all, Fuson completed 117 passes for 1,856 yards and 24 touchdowns to go with 127 carries for 902 yards and 13 scores.

Seeing what Fuson is capable of on film contextualizes the stats even more. A technically sound passer that can get some air under the ball and a runner that shows great balance to stay on his feet despite taking hits, Fuson may be one of the more underrecruited quarterbacks/athletes in Iowa.
