Tampa Plant Uses ’24 Finish As Motivation

When the Tampa Plant Panthers hit the stage at Media Day, there were many questions that head coach Hank Brown and the seniors he brought addressed.
When the conversation circled back to the 2024 season, there was some frustration that surrounded a year where this team ended up finishing 8-4.
That record that they finished with really didn’t tell the story about a team that was in every game but one – when they dropped a 26-0 home decision to area power Seffner Armwood.
As they looked back at the losses, they saw that Armwood setback and also a road loss to Tampa Bay Tech (15-7) and a six-point (19-13) setback to Riverview Sumner.
This is a program that turned it on in the second half of the season, winning five straight games, including a first-round win against Bartow.
When they traveled to Armwood for a second-round state playoff game, this was a different team that lost the first time around as they held the advantage in the fourth quarter, only to lose, 21-17.
The second loss to their district foes was painful and something that every player and coach carried with them into the off-season and has used as motivation, heading into the 2025 season.
