Two of the state's most respected programs went head to head, giving fans and coaches an early glimpse at what's to come this season. It wasn't just about the scoreboard it was about measuring talent, testing depth, and setting the tone for the year ahead. Two teams who also finish well in 2024 , now came together to collab with a scrimmage and it was a success for both sides . Here are some players who stood out and some players who are on the rising:   WAXAHACHIE INDIANS    Jordan flashed his versatility in the scrimmage, making plays both out of the backfield and from the slot, showing he can impact the game in multiple ways.     Jayquan, holding down the safety spot, looked sharp throughout the scrimmage. He came downhill to make key tackles, showed good awareness in coverage, and proved he can be a reliable presence on the back end of the defense.     Jerry set the tone early, leading the Indians down the field on the opening drive and capping it off with a score. He impressed with his poise and ball placement, putting the offense in rhythm right away. Taylen currently holds one offer from SMU .     Grant, holding down the offensive line, had a strong scrimmage holding his blocks, creating running lanes, and giving his quarterback time to work. Showed great footwork, knew his blocking assignments.     Malik had a solid showing on the offensive line, displaying strength at the point of attack and good footwork in pass protection. He consistently created space in the run game, used his hands well to control defenders, and showed the kind of presence up front that helps set the tone for the entire offense.     AJ, at linebacker, had a strong scrimmage. He showed good instincts flowing to the ball, wrapped up well in tackles, and was active in both run support and coverage, making his presence felt across the field.     Kaden, also at linebacker, had a standout day. He was aggressive flowing to the ball, made several key tackles, and showed good awareness in both run and pass situations, helping anchor the defense throughout the scrimmage.     Kohen, a Texas commit, made things happen on the field, showing playmaking ability and the knack for turning opportunities into big plays. He also showed he can block!    Overall, the Indians look like a talented and well rounded team heading into the season. The offense is clicking, with the running game showing power and vision, and the passing attack looking poised. The defense just needs to tighten up a few minor details, but with the playmakers they have on both sides of the ball, the Indians have the pieces to compete at a high level. If they continue to build on the strong performance from the scrimmage, this team could be one to watch all season long.   SOUTHLAKE CARROLL    Angelo, a Pittsburgh commit, made an immediate impact, leading the Dragons on a scoring drive right out of the first series. He had a standout day airing the ball out, showing accuracy, poise, and the ability to make plays downfield.     Austin, playing strong safety, had a noticeable impact on the scrimmage. He showed good range in coverage, came up aggressively to make tackles in the run game, and demonstrated solid instincts reading the offense.     Brock, a wide receiver committed to Ohio State, showcased his elite skills during the scrimmage. Right from the first drive, Boyd led the Dragons down the field, capping off the possession with a touchdown. Throughout the game, he demonstrated his versatility by running a full route tree, making several contested catches that highlighted his impressive ball tracking and strong hands. His ability to separate from defenders and his precise route running were evident, reinforcing why he's considered one of the top wide receiver prospects in the 2026 class.     Carey, playing center, had a strong day anchoring the offensive line. He consistently opened running lanes for his backs, showed good technique in both run and pass situations, and helped keep the offense in rhythm throughout the scrimmage. Carey is committed to Memphis.     Davis, a running back, showed why he's a threat in the backfield. He hit holes quickly, ran with power, and made defenders work for every yard, giving the offense momentum throughout the scrimmage. Currently, has offers from Tulane, Rice, Kansas State and more.     Jackson, on the defensive line, had a strong showing in the scrimmage. He consistently disrupted plays at the line of scrimmage, used his strength to shed blocks, and made several tackles behind the line.     Marcus, lining up at linebacker, had an impressive scrimmage. He filled gaps quickly, consistently got his hands on ball carriers, and showed the kind of aggression and field awareness that keeps offenses on their toes.     Nathan, playing on the offensive line, had a strong scrimmage. He consistently held his blocks, opened lanes in the run game, and provided reliable protection for his quarterback, helping the offense stay in rhythm.     Parker, a defensive back, had a strong showing in the scrimmage. He displayed excellent awareness in coverage, broke quickly on the ball, and made several key plays that disrupted the opposing offense.     Robbie Land, a linebacker, made his presence felt with several solid tackles. He showed good instincts flowing to the ball and displayed the physicality needed to anchor the defense. Tristan, another offensive lineman, showcased his blocking ability throughout the scrimmage.
