They roll over a lot of that youth, now with an additional year of growth, and should contend for a playoff spot. Johnson also paced the defense with 48 tackles, two TFLs, and a forced fumble. Graduation left Pius X without its top passer, rusher, or receiver from last season, but there are serviceable replacements ready to step into bigger roles. At QB, [player_tooltip player_id='1625849' first='Maddox' last='Easley'] is the presumed starter after filling in on injury duty last season and throwing for 329 yards and a touchdown on a 68% completion rate. RB [player_tooltip player_id='1217720' first='Amudi' last='Musa'], WR [player_tooltip player_id='1844173' first='Brady' last='Shottenkirk'], and WR [player_tooltip player_id='1844172' first='Charlie' last='Morrow'] will be available to make life easier for Easley. [player_tooltip player_id='1617380' first='Zeke' last='Mullendore'] had a great summer in which he turned some heads on the recruiting trail and should be the main enforcer on the Pius X offensive line. The Thunderbolts start the season with a huge matchup against Elkhorn North. In their initial varsity season, the Grizzlies only won two games but looked more confident with each passing week. They will have some continuity on offense with senior [player_tooltip player_id='317642' first='Hayden' last='Holdren'] returning as the starting QB. Holdren and the offense struggled to find their footing consistently last season, but showed several flashes down the stretch that make me think they'll come out firing on all cylinders this fall. He will have some great players to throw to with seniors [player_tooltip player_id='1617415' first='Cooper' last='Grosserode'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1841571' first='Hyrum' last='Duggar'], junior [player_tooltip player_id='1588237' first='Chase' last='Loecker'], and super sophomores [player_tooltip player_id='1573580' first='Paul' last='Hart'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1647266' first='Kaedyn' last='Luebbe'] all in the mix as receiving targets. The Grizzlies also feature some maulers on the offensive line with [player_tooltip player_id='1515119' first='Hunter' last='Lemke'], [player_tooltip player_id='1699818' first='Calvin' last='Koch'], [player_tooltip player_id='1588505' first='Levi' last='Buckbee'], and [player_tooltip player_id='1347466' first='Soren' last='Scott'] all looking like legit prospects.
