PRZ AL's Game of the Week: MGM (1-0) vs. Gulf Shores (0-1)

After a thrilling Week 0, we're previewing a huge Week 1 matchup between Mary G. Montgomery (1-0) and Gulf Shores (0-1)   Both these teams have STACKED rosters, so we're talking about who we think everyone should look out for this week.   As always, check out these prospects' film below! You won't want to miss out on this group.   Let's dive in:   <h1 class="wp-block-heading">OFFENSE</h1>   <h3 class="wp-block-heading">MARY G MONTGOMERY</h3>    [player_tooltip player_id='1672883' first='Jakenyon' last='Allen'] is an explosive 2027 WR that Gulf Shores will have to account for this week. His speed and playmaking ability provide a ton of juice to MGM's passing attack.   "Allen is an athletic playmaker who kills defenses with his speed, twitch, and change of direction. Whether he lines up out wide, in the backfield, or as a returner, Allen will make defenders miss and create explosive plays. It's seriously impressive to watch.   Allen can be used in a variety of ways as a receiver. He has the speed to take jet sweeps/touch passes the distance, and the route running to attack and bring in receptions at multiple levels of the field."   Last week against Pace, Allen hauled in 3 receptions for 31 yards and one TD.   I'm really excited to see how Allen and this passing attack perform against Gulf Shore's defense. They have a really talented secondary, we're going to see some battles out wide this week.   Check out some of Allen's tape from last fall:      [player_tooltip player_id='1626485' first='DJ' last='Broughton'] is another dominant WR out of Mary G. Montgomery who's had a hot start to his senior season.   “At 6'5 215, Broughton is a matchup nightmare for opposing DBs. He uses his size to his advantage in a bunch of different ways- consistently dominating DBs by mossing them deep downfield, playing through contact to haul in catches, and never being brought down after first contact.   Broughton is especially dominant in the redzone. Last season, he was incredibly consistent and came away with a ton of huge scoring plays for his offense. One thing that really stood out to me with Broughton's tape was his versatility- he lines up almost everywhere on the field, and can make plays outside, in the slot, and even at TE in certain packages.”   Last week, Broughton hauled in 4 receptions for 57 yards and one TD.   Broughton will be a tough matchup for Gulf Shores this week. His size, speed, and hands make him such a tough WR to guard- we're gonna have to look out for him this week.   Check out some of Broughton's film below:     <h3 class="wp-block-heading">GULF SHORES</h3>    [player_tooltip player_id='1635178' first='Nicholas' last='Hampton'] is a talented pass catcher who's lined up and produced at WR and TE for Gulf Shores the last few seasons.   "At 6'3 215, Hampton is an explosive playmaker out wide who can haul in huge catches all over the field. He has great hands, is a talented route runner, and can easily stretch the field for big plays.   Hampton is also incredibly versatile and can line up and produce in multiple spots on the field, making his impact felt at TE and WR. Look out for Hampton this fall, he has a big year ahead."   With his size and athleticism Hampton provides a pass catching threat that's tough for any team to match up with well. MGM will have to pay close attention to him this week- he can go up and grab anything, it'll be important for them to slow him down early.   Check out some of Hampton's flim below:      [player_tooltip player_id='1640020' first='Carter' last='Davis'] is an electric WR out of Gulf Shores who put together an impressive performance against last week.   "Davis is incredibly versatile out wide- he's a talented deep threat with tons of speed who runs great routes downfield, gains tons of separation, and hauls in catches for huge scoring plays. I'm really impressed with Davis' speed- he can rev up from 0-100 in an instant and when he takes off, good luck stopping him.   What really stood out to me with Davis' tape was his skills as a blocker- he might be a great deep threat, but he has some serious physicality he uses to completely level DBs out and open up huge opportunities in the open field for his teammates, it's impressive to watch."   Davis went off last week, hauling in 2 receptions for 104 yards and 2 TDs.   MGM has a TOUGH task ahead of them this week. Davis is extremely talented and requires attention at all times, he can flip the field in a moment's notice and will be a huge factor in this week's matchup.   Check out some of Davis's clips from last week:   <figure class="wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter"><div class="wp-block-embed__wrapper"> https://twitter.com/PresidentCRT3R/status/1959288299480129716 </div></figure>    <h1 class="wp-block-heading">DEFENSE</h1>   <h3 class="wp-block-heading">MARY G MONTGOMERY</h3>    [player_tooltip player_id='1604806' first='Kaleb' last='Morris'] is a serioisuly talented piece of MGM's defensive front, Gulf Shores will have their hands full trying to slow him down this week.   "Morris is terrific at getting off the line of scrimmage, has quick, violent hands, and gets great penetration inside- consistently collapsing the pocket, pressuring the QB, and forcing bad decisions or taking them down for sacks.   Morris is just as productive in the backfield against the run- he completely dominates the line of scrimmage, fights off blocks, and closes up rushing lanes to take down the ball carrier at a consistent rate. It's really impressive watching how much speed Morris plays with- he makes some terrific plays in pursuit and is constantly around the ball."   I'm really interested to see how this game plays out in the trenches. Morris is a dominant DL who's been able to produce at a high level in back to abck seasons. If Gulf Shores can find a way to slow him down, they'll be in a lot better position offensively.   Check out some of Morris' tape from last year:      [player_tooltip player_id='1625575' first='Shondell' last='Harris'] is a talented two-way player out of MGM who has been especially terrific out in their secondary the last few sesaons.   “Harris is highly athletic and plays with a ton of speed wherever he lines up, especially on defense. Defensively, Harris is an impact playmaker who flies around the field to create tons of stops against the run and pass.   Harris is terrific out in coverage- he isn't easily beat downfield, has impressive closing speed, and does a great job tracking and breaking the ball to come up with pass breakups and interceptions. Harris is just as dominant against the run- he flies downhill, works through blockers, and has the pursuit skills to consistently hunt and take down the ball carrier at or behind the line of scrimmage.“   I'm no coach, but I'm sure we will be seeing a lot of Harris vs. [player_tooltip player_id='1640020' first='Carter' last='Davis'] this week. Harris is a talented DB in coverage, and MGM can't afford to let Davis stretch the field like he's known to do.   I'm EXCITED to watch those two face off- it'll be a ton of fun.     <h3 class="wp-block-heading">GULF SHORES</h3>    [player_tooltip player_id='1115964' first='Landon' last='Everett'] has been unstoppable at LB the last few seasons, constantly racking up tackles against some of the top offenses in the state.   "Everett has been a tackling machine for Gulf Shores each season he's started- he's excellent in pursuit and can make big tackles both in the open field, down in the box, and behind the line of scrimmage. He's terrific at identifying plays and consistently puts himself in great position to create an impact every down.   Everett is also reliable against the pass in coverage and as a blitzer, shutting down pass catchers and causing tons of problems for quarterbacks in the backfield."   Last week, Everett recorded 14 total tackles (5 solo, 3 for loss).   It could be a tough week for MGM's rushing attack. Everett is incredibly gifted at defending the run and consntaly finds his way into the backfield to create huge stops for loss. He'll for sure be a player to watch for this week.      [player_tooltip player_id='378357' first='Elijah' last='Malone'] is a lockdown DB who started his junior season up with a terrific performance against Choctawatchee last week.   "Malone is extremely versatile and makes plays everywhere on the field- he's dominant in coverage, excels at corner blitzes, and can even make splash plays on special teams by blocking FGs. Malone is outstanding in press man, he's extremely physical at the LOS, doesn't allow for WRs to win off their releases, and sticks with them the entire length of the field- making life incredibly difficult for opposing QBs.   Malone has great ball skills as well, if the ball is thrown his way, he's going to get his hands on it- he's excellent at jarring the ball free/picking off passes, consistently coming up with huge stops out in the secondary. Malone is also really reliable as a tackler, he does a great job wrapping up and doesn't allow for any kind of yardage after initial contact is made."   Last week, Malone racked up 3 total tackles (1 solo) and 2 INTs.   Malone and this Gulf Shores secondary have a tough task ahead of them this week. MGM has a ton of talent in their WR room, but Malone has previously competed and produced against some of the best in the state. It'll be exciting seeing how he performs Friday night, I think he has a big week ahead.
