In the first place spot on my list is [player_tooltip player_id='1281472' first='Joel' last='Wyatt'], a wide receiver/edge at Oakland High School. Wyatt made a huge difference on the defensive side of the ball, utilizing his outstanding size and speed to protect the backfield. I also liked Wyatt's physicality, proving he can hit receivers hard after the catch. The Tennessee commit also impressed me with his wingspan, using his arms to swat the ball away.

I was additionally impressed with [player_tooltip player_id='824736' first='Owen' last='Cabell'], a wide receiver at Christ Presbyterian Academy. Cabell was highly explosive down the stretch, hauling in two touchdowns for the Lions in the first half of the game. The Alabama commit has outstanding size and his catching ability was phenomenal against a very good Oakland defense.

In the third place spot on my list is [player_tooltip player_id='856867' first='Craig' last='Tutt'], a defensive back at Oakland High School. Tutt was unstoppable offensively, proving he's very difficult to bring down on the run. Tutt's ground game would help put three touchdowns on the board for the Patriots. I also liked the Ole Miss commit's performance defensively, assisting Wyatt in shutting down the pass and locking down the backfield.

Another skilled prospect to watch for is [player_tooltip player_id='1603958' first='Justis' last='Haggard'], a linebacker at Oakland High School. Haggard was a key player for the Patriots on both sides, proving he can contribute offensively and help lock down the opposition on the other side of the ball. Haggard was huge on Oakland's first drive of the contest, blasting into the house from a few yards out to tie up the game.

Game Recap

CPA would make the most of their first drive as the Lions' offense utilized the run game before Jack VanNorman would connect with [player_tooltip player_id='824736' first='Owen' last='Cabell'] for the first touchdown of the night. The Lions would take an early 7-0 lead over the Patriots. Oakland would quickly strike back as [player_tooltip player_id='1603958' first='Justis' last='Haggard'] would punch into the house for the score. Things were all tied up 7-7 with 5:10 left in the first quarter. The Patriots would go on to steal the lead in the second quarter as [player_tooltip player_id='856867' first='Craig' last='Tutt'] would outplay the defense and march into the endzone for the touchdown. Oakland led CPA 14-7 with a little under seven minutes left in the first half. The Lions' offense would answer in the final four minutes as another great pass from VanNorman would find Cabell for the touchdown. The Lions and the Patriots would enter the locker room tied 14-14. Oakland was unstoppable on both sides of the ball in the second half of action as the Patriots' defense would shut down the Lions' offense and prevent any more points from being added to the scoreboard. Oakland's offense was locked in during the second half as Tutt would overwhelm the Lions with his explosive ground game, piling on another two touchdowns. Oakland would go on to win their season opener, defeating CPA 28-14.
