The linebacker spot is always one of the toughest positions to project, but Illinois' 2026 class is loaded with athletic, instinctive players who fly to the football. These five prospects bring different skill sets but all share the ability to impact a defense.   Kameron Love – Kenwood Academy | ILB | 5'11, 203 Love is the type of inside linebacker who thrives on physicality. He's a sure tackler who doesn't shy away from contact, and his ability to fill gaps makes him a dependable run stopper for Kenwood's defense. Brevyn Whisman – Arcola HS | OLB | 6'2, 190 Whisman is a versatile defender who can rush the passer off the edge or drop back in coverage. His athleticism makes him a tough matchup for offenses, and he plays with a motor that doesn't quit.   Joey Michelini – Lake Park HS | OLB | 6'1, 195 Michelini is quick off the edge and brings consistent pressure. He's active in pursuit and has the speed to chase down plays from behind. Logan Sparrow – Morris HS | OLB | 6'2, 203 Sparrow has the size and athleticism to make plays all over the field.
