Auburndale vs Marathon: Top Prospects to Know

If you want gritty, hard nose, in the trenches football; look no further than these two teams. Take a look at who impressed in this defensive battle from Friday Night.    Nathan is a workhorse running back for the Eagles. He rarely comes off the field for Auburndale and is the engine off the there offense. He is a high volume runner and it seems like he gets stronger as the game progresses. Nathan runs loud as when he collides with a defender there is a pop to his pads and he always falls forward for the extra 1-2 yards. He runs bigger than his size and is also a force as a lead blocker. Nathan is taking on a larger role this season and I think he can be one of the top running backs in the highly competitive CWC - Small.     Russell blew me away with his defensive play making ability. From the first snap he was flying around filling gaps in the run game. Russell was a big-time game changer on defense. He made a diving interception in the back of the end zone to halt a Red Raider drive. Later in the game he had perfect technique and punched a ball out to force a huge fumble. As a junior Russell was the best player on an exceptional Auburndale defense and he has all of the qualities to be one of the top junior linebackers in the area.     Logan was impactful on both side of the ball for Auburndale. Offensively his blocking opened huge holes for Van Whye in the run game. He is a mauler who sticks to the defender and propels them out of the way. Logan is very quick on his feet and can stay with faster linebackers. On defense, he can split double teams attack the backfield to blow up plays. Logan can create mayhem in the backfield for his linebackers to clean up. Logan is an extremely talented two-way lineman who makes an impact in a variety of ways.     Tevin is a high motor defensive end who can twist and warp around his blocker. Against Marathon he was haulting any plays that would go to his side of the field. Even if the play went to the opposite side, he would still race to that side to tackle the ball carrier. In the passing game, Tevin had pressures on the quarterback that you don't see on the stat sheet. His stamina and drive really push Tevin to make unheralded plays across the field. Tevin is primed for a big season on the defensive line for Auburndale.     Hudson may have been the most impactful defensive player on the field. He was terrorizing Auburndale in the backfield every chance he got. Hudson is a massive 6 ‘2 305-pound thumper on the inside. Two words to describe Hudson would be gracefully violent. He is able to quickly fire off the ball to win his matchup on the LOS and he will blast and blow up any backfield activity. He brings so much brutality in the way he hits you and you never know when he may be breathing down your neck. Hudson played a heck of a game on Friday night, and I think he will have a huge senior season.     True plays quarterback with such patience and never gets flustered when the play goes sideways. He is able to make any throw on the run, in the pocket, and even off balance. He has a pure throwing motion and has efficient accuracy when targeting his receivers. True isn't just a quarterback, he is an effective runner and athlete on offense. I think you could line him up at any skill position on offense and he would be effective there. True was able to showcase all of his gifts on the gridiron and I can't wait to see what he does the rest of the season.     Garrett was the go-to security blanket for Thurs. It seemed like every time Thurs was in trouble Garrett found an opening in the secondary. He is seemingly always on the same page with his quarterback. In space he can make you miss with his quick twitch movement while being light on his feet. Garrett almost glides when he runs. He can stop on a dime and skirt around any defender in his way. Garrett should be able to put up big numbers this year with Thurs as his quarterback.     Javier was a breakout player for Marathon. He was impactful in all three facets of the game. On defense was is a sturdy tackler and was making plays in the secondary and at the line of scrimmage. On offense he is a tough running back who can plow through tackle attempts. Javier even makes an impact on special teams as he will race downfield to halt the returners from advancing. He rarely will come off the field and plays with immense passion for the Red Raiders. I think Javier has the ability to have a strong senior season wherever he lines up.
