8-Man Players Bound for Big Seasons

11-man football is not the only game on the gridiron starting soon. 8-man football has already begun practicing and the first games are right around the corner. Today we take a deep dive ten 8-man football players who are bound for big seasons.    Cullen is a two-way sensation for North Crawford. Defensively he plays the game at a different pace than most players. It seems that he is always making plays in the backfield. Cullen is a sure hand tackler and has the IQ to diagnose the play. He displays lockdown coverage as a cornerback and plays like a centerfielder in the backend. On offense, he can take the top off of the secondary and race past everyone on the defense. He is the whole package as a football player and should be one of top returning 8-man players in the state.     Dayne is a pure athlete at quarterback. He uses his legs as a read option quarterback or with a flick of the wrist; he can accurately hit his receivers. There is a lot to like with his game. He plays at his own speed and his speed is usually faster than everyone else. Dayne has a tremendous feel for the pocket and can make quick decisions when plays break down. I think Dayne is in line for a monster senior year at Clayton.     Chanse is always around the ball on defense. If that is delivering jaw-dropping hits or knocking passes away. Chanse is a textbook tackler and drives the offensive player into the ground with authority. He takes no plays and gives 100 percent of his effort on any given play. While he is 6 ‘3 and 195 pounds, Chanse is still going into his body, and I think he can be a wrecking ball on defense this year.     Boone is a very impressive wide receiver. He does all of the little things right. Route runner, ball skills, toughness. He runs very clean, and crisp routes and always seems to find a way to pop open for his quarterback. Boone is elusive with and without the ball in his hands. When the ball is in his hands he has excellent acceleration to scamper for touchdowns. I think Boone is on pace for a phenomenal senior season at Wabeno/Laona.     Brayden can make the most wild, circus-like catches. He caught 15 touchdowns for 1,042 yards last season and at times he looks unguardable. Brayden uses his 6 ‘2 height to reach over and snag away the ball from defensive backs. He has such long strides that when in space he is hard to track down. The speed and strides make him an effective deep threat. I expect him to be one of the top receivers in 8-man football this year     Braylon plays the game with such speed and tempo that sometimes the camera can't keep up with him. He is a complete back. He runs with tenacity, finishes plays and can turn on the burners for large gains. Braylon uses all of his 5 ‘11- and 215-pound frame to physically overpower defenders. You can tell he really takes his weightlifting seriously when you see him play. Only a sophomore; Braylon is ascending for another big year.     Tri-County feeds Jake the ball in a plethora of different ways. Jet sweep, counters, screens, dives, etc. When Jake has the ball in his hands; positive plays happen. He runs so low to the ground that he can slide by defenders while bolting for the endzone. Jake has the ability to put up monster performances in any given game. I think Jake is ready for another big season on offense.     Cole a locomotive on offense. Speed is his calling card and he has the ability to turn on the jets to push past the defense. If he gets to the sideline; it might be too late. He has great vision of the field and can cut back to the opposite sideline when needed. Cole uses his pads well and won't hesitate to blast past tacklers. He also has one heck of a deep ball as he leads his receivers to the open grass. Cole scored 25 total touchdowns last season and I think he easily can eclipse that this year.     Emmitt is a bulldog at quarterback. He can have defenders drapped over him and yet he will keep plowing through the tacklers. He uses all of his 220 pounds to shrug off defenders. He plays the game like a big fullback who is seeking out contact. As a passer he throws the ball with some zip to it to hit his receivers in stride. Emmitt had a whopping 45 total touchdowns last year; I don't see why he can't do that again this year.     Gavin is a man amongst boys. He uses his massive 230 pound frame to dominate blockers. He uses his hands really well to knock off blocks while also having the sneaky speed to chase down ball carriers. Gavin gets off of the ball very quick as a pass rusher and packs a punch as a tackler. I am really excited to see what Gavin does on defense this season.
