Because our North Dakota 2029 rankings have so many "Small Town Sleepers" we will dive into muliple parts with this series, as when we ran our total of the 20 2029 athletes that were ranked, we found that half our group hailed from small town North Dakota.

By definition, the term “small town” are towns that have a population of 5000 people or less and let's just say with every town listed in this scouting report, we find prospects from much smaller populations that that 5000 people number, in fact the largest population in one town from two of the athletes in our report is just slightly over 2200 people. We tell you about the 2029 athletes that cracked our rankings from Small Town South Dakota and hit on some names on our watchlist that are names to watch for in this 2029 class from Small Town SD!

Owen was a name that caught my attention at one of the NDSU two-day camps this summer as a tight end and defensive linemen to know in this 2029 class. He comes in as our TE1 in the class at #20 overall as the nearly 6'0 203 pounder showed off in the top-tier for testing in all categories amongst 2029s at the NDSU camps based on my SES analytic (size, explosiveness, speed). The light reps I watched showed off promising upside and as the head coach's son at LaMoure-Litchville-Marion, he's a 2029 prospect that should develop well in the weight room and on the football field in the coming years for sure.

The third Rist brother that I have been able to scout in my time with PRZ Dakotas, is also the third running back from that family as [player_tooltip player_id='1740852' first='Mason' last='Rist'] lands on our 2029 rankings at #18 overall and our RB2 in the class. We got to see him this summer at the Valley City State prospect camp, as the live eval showed me there's a lot of upside to grow but getting that early start at college camps as an incoming freshman, should give him an early jump. He showed off to be one of the more fluid running backs amongs the RB group I saw in Valley City and picked up new concepts quicker than you might expect for a 2029 class but Mason is one that I already like where his football IQ could take him over the coming years. Surely the next RB to watch for the DL-B Lakers.

Ace is a 2029 offensive linemen that we were informed about via our high school coaches network as a 2029 we need to know early. The 6'0 210 pounder from Stanley, is one that embraces the physicality needed to perform on both ends of the trenches and already has shown off that he plays with the outstanding motor you want in your trenches from what I have heard about him this summer. He's one to of a few in our Top 20 to watch for this fall from Stanley.

The other name that has risen his stock this summer as our current top deffensive back in the 2029 North Dakota class is [player_tooltip player_id='1741121' first='Regan' last='Gustafson'], also of Stanley. I've said it before, there are not too many 8th graders scratching the surface at the ND state wrestling tournament, and Regan has already placed in state wrestling in North Dakota which is very impressive. If you know me by now you understand that the mesh of sports between football and wrestling are my favorite combination, as my gut tells me that Regan thrives with physicality already in the Blue Jays secondary upcoming. Anytime a HS coach tells me how "gifted" an athlete is at this age, my ears listen closely as I can't wait to see what this young man brings to the table over the coming years.
