The time has finally come, Week 1 of the 2025 high school football season is officially here! With this in mind, I wanted to highlight the top players in each class in the state of Kentucky with my Preseason All-State Teams. After already covering classes 3A-6A, I will now be turning my attention to class 2A, starting with the offensive side of the ball.

[player_tooltip player_id='1157497' first='Dre'mail' last='Carothers'] is a player who really impressed me on the camp circuit this offseason. He served as a backup last season but was productive when on the field, throwing for over 700 yards and eight touchdowns with one interception. Carothers throws an impressive deep ball, showing the arm strength to stretch the field and touch to put the ball where only his intended receiver can catch it. He has also shown impressive accuracy, showing the ability to hit his receivers out of their breaks so that they can make catches in stride. Carothers currently holds offers from Kentucky, Eastern Kentucky, and Kentucky Wesleyan, and I expect more Division I offers to come his way as he takes the reins as the starting quarterback this season.

[player_tooltip player_id='1610670' first='Josiah' last='England'] is coming off a breakout sophomore season in which he ran for over 1,500 yards and 17 touchdowns. England has an explosive burst of speed out of his stance which he uses to hit the running lane with a sense of urgency then run away from the defense on long runs. He has also shown the elusiveness to make defenders miss in the open field and contact balance to break tackles without losing stride. Josiah also caught eight passes for 99 yards and a touchdown last season. England currently holds an offer from Eastern Kentucky and I expect more to come his way over the next two years.

[player_tooltip player_id='371230' first='Daulton' last='Tarter'] is a player who has been high on my radar since his freshman year. He is coming off a very impressive junior season in which he rushed for over 2,000 yards and 32 touchdowns. Tarter is a strong runner who has shown the ability to keep his legs churning through contact to break tackles with ease. Once he hits the open field, he has also proven to have the burst of speed to run away from the defense on long runs. Tarter also caught 10 passes for 92 yards last season. He honestly could've made my Preseason All-State defense as well as he was dominant as a linebacker/strong safety last season, finishing the year with 92 tackles, 20 tackles for loss, three sacks, and a team-high six interceptions, returning five of them for touchdowns. Daulton doesn't currently hold any offers but I can see some coming his way soon as he has received a good amount of college interest.

Fryman is a very skilled route runner, using sudden breaks his routes to create separation with ease. He has also shown the speed to pose as a threat in the deep passing game and to pick up yards after the catch. Tyler also scored one rushing touchdown as a sophomore and made an impact on defense, finishing the year with 26 tackles and an interception. Fryman is committed to play baseball at Louisville but he is also a highly-touted football prospect, holding offers from Louisville, Notre Dame, Miami (OH), and Toledo.

He is coming off a strong junior year in which he led his team in receiving with 44 catches for 733 yards and eight touchdowns. Hoover has explosive speed which he uses to blow by opposing defensive backs in the deep passing game. He is also electric after the catch, using his speed and elusiveness in the open field to turn short passes into big gains. Mak also played a key role on defense last season, finishing the year with 38 tackles, two tackles for loss, and two interceptions. Xavier had a solid junior year, catching 29 passes for 381 yards and five touchdowns. He also has very consistent hands and has shown the ability to pick up yards after the catch. Mays is also an impressive blocker in the run game, showing the ability to run his feet through contact to drive his man out of the picture with ease.
[player_tooltip player_id='1706097' first='Andrew' last='Houk'] jumped onto my radar with a very impressive junior season. He is a versatile offensive tackle who has shown the ability to play on both the left and right side. Houk is a dominant run blocker, showing the ability to pull from the tackle spot and get out into open space and use a very physical punch to destroy any defenders in his path. As an in-line blocker, he has shown the ability to drive his feet through contact to drive his man down the field. He is also reliable in pass protection, showing the footwork to mirror opposing pass rushers while fighting with his hands to defeat pass rush moves. He finishes his blocks with a ton of physicality, often ending in a pancake block. Wolford has also shown the ability to get to the second level quickly to pick up blocks in the open field.
[player_tooltip player_id='1701050' first='John' last='Carrico'] made an immediate impact as a freshman last season. Carrico is very explosive out of his stance, showing the ability to drive straight through his man to create movement off the line of scrimmage. He finishes his blocks through the whistle, resulting in frequent pancake blocks several yards down the field. In pass protection, Carrico does a great job of maintaining a strong base while absorbing contact, not allowing for much penetration into the pocket. Carrico currently holds offers from Kentucky, Louisville, Eastern Kentucky, Miami (OH), and Hillsdale, and I expect that list to continue to grow as he continues to develop over the next three seasons.
