Team Spotlight: OTS Wins Big at the Mark Hall 7v7 Tournament

The Mark Hall 7v7 Tournament at UNC Pembroke took place this past Saturday, bringing together 19 teams from across Eastern North Carolina and the Pee Dee region of South Carolina. Under the sweltering heat of Robeson County, competition was fierce—but one team rose above the rest: Team OTS, tournament champions in their debut appearance.

OTS, short for Onslow Touchdown Showdown, is a new high school football league based in Onslow County. The league was created to develop and elevate local football talent, and this tournament marked their first official competition. “Team OTS” was a carefully selected group made up of standout athletes from the league's spring season—representing schools such as Jacksonville, Richlands, Northside Jacksonville, and more.

Despite being in their inaugural year, OTS proved they belong. Their roster was loaded with emerging talent, including one player that impressed the coaches so much that he earned himself an official scholarship offer.

Congratulations again to Team OTS on capturing their first 7v7 title. Stay tuned for more player evaluations from this talented squad as we continue our breakdown of the Mark Hall Tournament standouts.k ethic, advanced football I

[player_tooltip player_id='1664142' first='Anthony' last='Washington'] served primarily as a backup for Jacksonville last season, but this year, he's stepping into the spotlight as the Cardinals' starting quarterback—and he looks ready for the challenge.

During the Mark Hall 7v7 Tournament, Washington stood out with his composure in the pocket, making smart reads and delivering accurate throws under pressure. Despite OTS rotating between three quarterbacks—raising the stakes for each possession—Washington never flinched. His confidence, leadership, and competitive spirit were clear. More than just a quarterback, Washington is a football player through and through. He consistently encouraged teammates and brought steady energy to the huddle.

As he takes over the reins this fall, expect [player_tooltip player_id='1664142' first='Anthony' last='Washington'] to bring both poise and fire to Jacksonville's offense. His time is now—and he's ready to lead.

Last season, he split reps, but based on what I've seen from him recently, I fully expect him to step into a full-time starting role and thrive. He's got command of the offense, excellent touch on his throws, and a poise beyond his years. Till is primed for a breakout

Jamian Johnson – WR – Northside Jacksonville (Class of 2027)
Jamian Johnson is a polished receiver who's just waiting for the right opportunity to shine. He has exceptional hands—during warmups, he was pulling down one-handed grabs that would make a highlight reel. His ability to create separation off the line is impressive, and he consistently makes tough, contested catches look routine.

Johnson is a true diamond in the rough. He kicked off last season with a 2-touchdown performance in the opener and has the talent to finish this year with double-digit scores. Don't be surprised if he becomes one of the most productive wideouts in the area.

Sarron Thompson – WR – Jacksonville (Class of 2027)
Sarron Thompson may have arrived late, but he wasted no time making his presence felt. The 6'2" wideout from Jacksonville was a difference-maker throughout the playoffs, helping push his OTS group over the top and ultimately to a championship. A lot of that success can be directly tied to Thompson's impact on the field.

With his size, playmaking ability, and clutch performances, Thompson earned himself a well-deserved scholarship offer. He's a name to watch heading into the season.

Dominic Williams Jr. – CB – Jacksonville High School (Class of 2028)
Dominic Williams Jr. was the top underclassman cornerback at the camp I covered—hands down. The Jacksonville High School product has been on my radar this offseason, and each time I've seen him, he's taken another step forward. His progression has been consistent and impressive.

This was my first time watching him in true game situations, and he didn't disappoint. Williams is a skill technician at corner—his hands and feet are always in sync, and he plays with confidence and control. His competitiveness stood out, and it's clear he has a high ceiling.
