PSR Big Camp Series, New Jersey: Quarterbacks, Volume III

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>On Saturday, May 10th, 2025 I was welcomed back for the third year in a row to cover&nbsp;<a href="https://x.com/ScoutNickP">Coach Nick Pennisi</a>‘s&nbsp;<em>PSR Big Camp Series</em>&nbsp;hosted at Monroe High School in Monroe, New Jersey. As I have come to expect, this event was packed with participation, loaded with talent, and ran extremely well.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Different than other events, Pennisi opted to have three different check-in times, based on position groupings. This afforded me the opportunity to get a closer look at many of the prospects in attendance. Below are just some of my notes on the position group mentioned in this article's title.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Be sure to follow me on&nbsp;<a href="https://x.com/BrendanScoutsNJ"><strong>Twitter</strong></a>&nbsp;for the latest updates in New Jersey high school football.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:separator --> <hr class="wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity" /> <!-- /wp:separator --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>We start off today with three prospects from our Garden State... I specifically recall commenting on [player_tooltip player_id='855779' first='Xavien' last='Rodriguez']'s film that he showcased enough, and threw a high propensity, of fade balls. Now that I had the opportunity to see him live at this camp, I can honestly say that he throws<em> </em>an <em>outstanding </em>deep bomb. Not lost upon that, I also saw him throw a dig route. Honestly speaking, the throw on that dig Rodriguez threw might have been the best throw I saw all day... A prospect who seems much older than he really is in terms of game experience was Seneca's [player_tooltip player_id='212049' first='Anthony' last='Tirico']. Tirico showed that he is able to adjust and make corrections. The first throw I saw him attempt was behind his receiver and intercepted by a trailing defender. Later on Tirico made that said adjustment, leading his target on a dig. Mechanics, specifically in his lower half, might aid Tirico as some of his throws died a bit on this particularly windy day... Staying in South Jersey, rising sophomore [player_tooltip player_id='1692664' first='Shane' last='Fryer'] from Delsea made the trip up. Fryer was on the smaller size, listed at 5'6" 130 pounds. As a result, I look for him to improve his throwing mechanics in his lower half. Doing so will allow Fryer to get more on his throws.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p> We close out this piece with coverage from three out-of-state prospects, including one from out of the country... If there is one thing that was clear about Nicholas DeVito it is the fact that he takes coaching well. There was a back shoulder throw available for DeVito to complete, but he did not initially see it. One of the quarterback coaches pointed this out to DeVito, who proceeded to seemingly execute that throw exclusively throughout the rest of the event - I assume to refine and work on it to take back to Smithtown West. Prior to this adjustment, I saw DeVito get some <em>serious </em>hang time and height on a fade he threw... Making the trip up from the Sunshine State, Floridian Patrick Harding came out to Jersey to compete. I like how Harding surveys the field and his matchups. Noticing he had a big, tall receiver to throw to, Harding looked to exploit this matchup, allowing the big fella to go up and get it. Additionally, he also threw a very good fade ball. On breaking routes, I wish to see Harding lead his matchup a bit more, as well as consider the wind when he makes some of his throws... Crossing our country's northern boarder we head into Canada to share throughts on Braeden Medd. As Medd prepares for his 2026 season he would be well served to clean up his mechanics.
