PRZVA Team Previews: Mount Vernon Majors

After clinching a spot in the postseason with a thrilling win over Edison, the Majors season came to an abrupt end with a trip to Lake Braddock the following week. Long time assistant Drew Holland was named the Head Coach this past spring and he has hit the ground running. This young man tore through secondaries last year with 68 receptions and 13 receiving touchdowns! He is their big play home run threat and I am looking forward to see him stay in conference in his final season. Moret too me is a FCS level football player and I hope he starts to get the attention he deserves. An all region selection at defensive tackle, Martin is very athletic and a pain to block up front. One of the stronger lineman in the region, he makes plays at fullback too. Fun to watch him at defensive end as he plays with his head up and knows how to shed incoming blockers. Really good blocking tight end and he always seems to be in on big plays for the Majors special teams. James earned all district honors as a sophomore and also has game changing speed. Personally I am more of a fan with his work at corner, he really is a master of his craft at that position. He has ball skills, hip movement and is not afraid to stick his nose into any ball carrier. He really could be a nice option opposite of Moret this fall, he too has some speed. Cole will play receiver and linebacker this season.
