We have just completed the largest update to the Nebraska Class of 2027 rankings, resulting in over 100 new names in our database and a completely revamped rankings list. To cover some of the new players and risers, I will provide positional overviews that offer a quick breakdown of a few players in each group, as well as share any relevant recruiting news on those prospects. Keep an eye out, as we will also be conducting player evaluations, where I will provide a more in-depth game tape breakdown as part of the update coverage.

[player_tooltip player_id='212374' first='Kylonn' last='Haynie'] (@HaynieKylonn) - Omaha Central's [player_tooltip player_id='212374' first='Kylonn' last='Haynie'] holds on as the top RB in the latest 2027 update after a dominant sophomore season. Last season, Kylonn hit the 1,000-yard milestone as he rushed for 1,011 yards and 10 touchdowns, while also adding 137 yards and two touchdowns as a pass catcher. Haynie is an absolute handful to take on as a defender with his powerful 5'10", 210-pound frame that he can use as a battering ram when he builds momentum. Haynie doesn't shy away from taking on contact and more often than not, will look to dish out some punishment himself. The Eagle's back has already started to make a name for himself on the recruiting trail with offers from Nebraska, Wisconsin, Toledo, Kansas State, Kansas, Iowa State, and North Dakota State.

[player_tooltip player_id='1085158' first='TayTay' last='Jenkins'] (@TayTayjenkins_) - Omaha Westside's [player_tooltip player_id='1085158' first='TayTay' last='Jenkins'] had a monster first season with the Warriors as he helped lead the way to another championship game appearance. Jenkins carried the ball 235 times for 1,993 yards and 22 touchdowns on an average of 8.5 yards per carry. Jenkins also showed that he is a legit threat out of the backfield with 13 receptions, 217 receiving yards, and four receiving touchdowns. Few players flashed the explosive play ability quite like TayTay did last season, using his elite burst and acceleration to separate from defenses the moment he saw open grass. Very twitchy with top-tier balance to battle through contact. Looking forward to watching what Jenkins does for an encore.

[player_tooltip player_id='1075674' first='Quentin' last='Malone'] (@QuentinMalone22) - Junior [player_tooltip player_id='1075674' first='Quentin' last='Malone'] joins Jenkins in the Westside backfield in what should be one of the best 1-2 punches in the state. Playing for Gretna East last season, Malone toted the ball 66 times for 438 yards and three receiving touchdowns. Malone is a smooth runner who can make quick, subtle cuts in tight spaces and has the vision to bounce runs to the outside. Once he finds the open field, Malone shows he has the speed to break away from defenses for big gains. Tough runner who isn't going down easy. Quentin's versatility could see him also earning a defensive role this season.

[player_tooltip player_id='1192593' first='David' last='Washington'] (@DavidWashin1) - Millard West's [player_tooltip player_id='1192593' first='David' last='Washington'] is a player I'm predicting will blow up this season now with more experience himself as well as the rest of the offense. Last season, David gave us several glimpses into the electric player he has the potential to be after recording 60 carries, 431 rushing yards, and five touchdowns. My biggest takeaway from watching David's tape is how fluid and natural he looks as a runner, showing good instincts to follow his blocks and find gaps while making quick, effective cuts to shake off defenders. The Wildcats should be back in the playoff picture this season, and if David takes off, they could be in store for a deep run.

[player_tooltip player_id='1695214' first='Lane' last='Heimes'] (@Laneheimes) - Junior [player_tooltip player_id='1695214' first='Lane' last='Heimes'] returns to the Blue Devils offense after leading the team in rushing last season. Heimes had a productive sophomore season, recording 103 carries, 718 yards, 14 rushing touchdowns, and a receiving touchdown. Heimes is a springy running back who does a good job following his blocks and trusting his vision as he finds running lanes. Great burst when he hits his holes and can accelerate very well in the open field.
