We have just completed the largest update to the Nebraska Class of 2027 rankings, resulting in over 100 new names in our database and a completely revamped rankings list. To cover some of the new players and risers, I will provide positional overviews that offer a quick breakdown of a few players in each group, as well as share any relevant recruiting news on those prospects. Keep an eye out, as we will also be conducting player evaluations, where I will provide a more in-depth game tape breakdown as part of the update coverage.

[player_tooltip player_id='422820' first='Tory' last='Pittman III'] (@ToryP_3) - Omaha Central's [player_tooltip player_id='422820' first='Tory' last='Pittman III'] checks in as not only the top player in Nebraska's 2027 class, but the top overall safety among all 27s in the country. Pittman has racked up quite the offer list so far, including schools like Colorado, Florida State, Iowa State, Kansas, Kansas State, LSU, Miami, Michigan, Missouri, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Oregon, Penn State, Sacramento State, Tennessee, USC, and Wisconsin. Tory stands out on tape with his elite range and speed, showing that he can make a play from anywhere on the field. Pittman also processes the game very well with a natural feel for route concepts and knowing exactly how to disrupt the play's timing. Ball skills like a receiver and knows how to track passes in the air like a true ball hawk. Excellent tackler who can chop down opponents in the open field. Pittman ended his sophomore season with 54 tackles, a TFL, three interceptions, 26 receptions, 458 receiving yards (team-high), and five receiving touchdowns. Big-time season coming as Tory continues to move up recruiting boards across the country.

[player_tooltip player_id='1556216' first='Colton' last='Williams'] (@ColtonW2027) - Millard West's [player_tooltip player_id='1556216' first='Colton' last='Williams'] was one of the biggest risers in the latest update, moving into the top 10 after a great summer camp cycle. Williams emerged on my radar during his sophomore season, where he recorded 44 tackles, four fumble recoveries, and two interceptions. Colton stands out with his 6'2", 175-pound frame that seems to fit the mold of the taller, lengthier modern defensive back. Colton's size allows him to match up well against most receivers 1v1 with the speed and agility to stay locked in throughout the route. One part of Williams' game that really stands out is how well he uses his hands to defend and bat away passes at the catch point, ending with 12 PBUs last season. Overall, a great athlete who is only starting to scratch the surface of his talents... buy stock ASAP!

[player_tooltip player_id='1086182' first='Wyatt' last='Liebentritt'] (@WyattLieb21) - Skutt Catholic's [player_tooltip player_id='1086182' first='Wyatt' last='Liebentritt'] is another player who needs to be on more recruiting boards immediately. The Sky Hawk's junior had a tremendous 2024 campaign playing receiver and safety, recording 40 tackles, two TFLs, an interception, 138 receiving yards, and two receiving touchdowns en route to a state championship. This effort, as well as a busy offseason, led to Wyatt receiving his first Power 4 offer from Penn State. When you cut on the tape, it's clear to see why they jumped on board so early, with Wyatt's versatility as a run defender and coverage safety. He's very rangy with a lightning-quick trigger and play recognition that help him fly to the ball. We could be looking at a pretty deep offer list by the time Wyatt's junior season is over.

[player_tooltip player_id='547140' first='Re'Aire' last='Washington'] (@ReWashington13) - Omaha North's [player_tooltip player_id='547140' first='Re'Aire' last='Washington'] is a prospect who is somewhat overlooked despite a great season at one of the toughest positions (CB) in the state's largest class. Week in and week out, Re'Aire held his own against some great competition and ended with 21 tackles on the year (missed two games). One of Washington's best traits is his timing in coverage with a great sense for when to attack the ball without playing himself out of position, resulting in 7 pass breakups. He also shows a willingness to help out against the run, displaying the motor and pursuit to flag down the ball carrier even when playing out on the perimeter. Re'Aire is starting to gain some traction with a camp offer from Wayne State... keep a close eye here!

[player_tooltip player_id='1271363' first='Zeke' last='Jasa'] (@ZJasa_24) - Gretna's [player_tooltip player_id='1271363' first='Zeke' last='Jasa'] is a player to watch on an up-and-coming Dragon's defense that had a youth movement last season and could be one of the better squads in Class B. As a sophomore, Jasa ended the year with 22 tackles, .5 TFLs, and a forced fumble. Zeke may be "undersized" by some recruiting metrics, but he outworks that with his technical skills and physical mindset. He doesn't shy away from contact with the receiver, no matter the size, showing that he can jam at the line of scrimmage with the recovery speed to get back in coverage, and he won't hesitate to engage in handfighting throughout the route and at the catch point. Will step up to help defend the run. Very excited to see what Zeke does in year three!
